Nestled in the foothills of Mount Aconcagua in the Andes, Mendoza is a fascinating oasis of green and one of the most endearing cities in Argentina. Famous worldwide for its Malbec grapes, wine is quite rightly the biggest attraction in town and you will have the opportunity to visit several wineries tasting the local produce. For adventure lovers, the city serves well as a starting point for all kinds of activities such as mountaineering, climbing and river pursuits on the Mendoza River.

You are met on arrival at Mendoza Airport and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the city and learn about the culture and history of its foundation by the Spanish colonisers four centuries ago. Walk around the old city and take in the Pedro del Castillo Square, the sensual Alameda of General San Martin and the ruins of San Francisco Church. Along tree lined streets, drive to the new city and get to know more about its main avenues and squares (like Plaza Independencia), the Civi Centre and the old residential area before getting to the General San Martin Park with its lake and rose garden and the Hill of Glory, a popular spot for a panoramic view of the city. Evening is at your leisure.

Mendoza possesses 70% of the country's vineyards and has the same percentage of wine production so it's the main ecological centre of South America. In the morning you will meet the guide who will accompany you throughout the tour. Depart to Mendoza's agricultural oasis, and visit three wineries of wine's circuit. You will enjoy a wine tasting session, during which you will begin to familiarize with the local's wines, and its elaboration process. Lunch will be included at one of these bodegas. The local guide will explain the technique of wine tasting, wine production, the importance of the cork in the bottle and the correct way to handle a glass in order to taste wine. In the afternoon return back to Mendoza city.
