The Botswana pula is the official currency of Botswana, and is divided into 100 thebe. Pula is a synonym for rain – in light of the Kalahari Desert and lack of rain here, emphasising the value of the pula. ATMs are common in cities and large towns, and their currency exchange rate is usually better than ones given at banks. 

The official languages of Botswana are English and Setswana; the majority of locals here will have no problem conversing with you in English.

Botswana enjoys its dry season from May to September and, generally speaking, this is the best time for safari experiences as you’ll find the highest concentration of wildlife gathering around waterholes and in the wetlands of the flooded delta.
