Beautiful resort

Kawartha Lakes, Canada

My husband and I were there last Sunday for brunch with a group - our first time there. The grounds are beautiful and the food was amazing, however, before we even took one bite, the waitress dropped a full drink onto my husband! He was wearing dress shorts and a white dress shirt...….completely soaked including the chair! I think a little more than "I'm sorry" from the waitress should have been done, He had to sit in wet clothes and wasn't even offered a dry chair....not what I would have expected for a place of this caliber. I would have rated our experience 5 stars if it hadn't been for that!

Summer Escape

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Elmhirst's cottages are rustic but with all of amenities you could hope for. There is no A/C but being next to the lake you can easily catch a breeze when the weather heats up. Nearly every cottage faces Rice Lake, has it's own dock, deck and gas grill. Plenty of activities to too keep young folks busy. Fishing can be a challenge because of the very heavy weed growth. Even crossing the lake at speed is made difficult by weeds and you may need to stop frequently to clear the motor. Weedless lures are a must but there are plenty of fish to be caught when the conditions allow. Bass, Crappie, Pickerel and of course Sunfish reside in good numbers. Plenty of carp and the occasional muskie also populate Rice Lake.
