Toronto – Best time to go

Best time to visit Toronto

As a completely year-round city, there is never a bad time to visit Toronto, only different things to see and explore with each season.

Spring sees Toronto wake up from the harsh winter, with its park and green areas bursting to life with pops of colour - explore the Canada Blooms Festival in March or the Toronto Light Festival throughout March-April which illuminates the Distillery Historic District.

This is where the city truly comes in to its own, with long, warm days to enjoy many fantastic outdoor activities from biking around the city to kayaking on Lake Ontario. Explore the Waterfront Festival at nearby Mississauga with colourful carnivals, outdoor concerts, theatre and a petting zoo - perfect for families - or discover a new love of music at the Toronto Jazz Festival in June-July.

Fall sees the stunning changing colours across the city, with temperatures still mild enough to get and and enjoy the sights. Rub shoulders with celebrity's during the word-famous Toronto Film Festival in September or have lots of fun beer tasting at the traditional Oktoberfest that takes over in September/October.

Toronto's winters can be harsh, but it does mean that you are almost guaranteed crisp, cold and snowy scenes to get you in the festive mood. Explore Toronto's Christmas Markets with a warm hot chocolate or witness the Santa Claus Parade, a city staple since 1905, at the lighting of Toronto's official Christmas Tree at the Cavalcade of Lights.
