The sunniest island in the eastern Caribbean, Antigua is a tropical paradise bursting with white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, swaying palms and lush vegetation.

With more than 300 beaches dotting the coastline, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to sit back, relax and sip a cocktail or two.

As the Caribbean’s ‘sailing capital’ Antigua’s maritime heritage is still visible today. Down at the marina, you’ll find opulent yachts bobbing on the ocean waves, and Sailing Week is a key event in the island’s calendar.

History lovers will enjoy Antigua as much as beach worshippers, with traces of its colonial history found throughout the island. Keen history lovers should visit Nelson’s Dock, a UNESCO World Heritage site and marina in the tellingly named ‘English Harbour’, and see the Georgian architecture of the island capital, Saint John’s.

As the sun sets, head to Shirley Heights to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the island and harbours.

Known for its pristine beaches, luxurious accommodation and romantic vistas, St Lucia is a slice of paradise on earth; yet it is far more than just a honeymoon destination. With an impressive terrain including rainforest, volcanos and imposing mountain peaks, this is the perfect island getaway for travellers looking for a taste of adventure.

At the heart of St Lucia’s incredible scenery is The Pitons – two imposing spires of volcano which jut spectacularly from the ocean and tower over the island beneath. This UNESCO World Heritage site can be explored by hiking to the summit or viewed in all its glory from the waters below.

Visitors to St Lucia can immerse themselves in the island’s volcanos, with a trip to Sulphur Springs. Here you can take a mud bath in volcanic water that is rich with minerals and detoxing properties.

After so much outdoor adventure, why not take a few days to soothe your tired muscles on one of the island’s postcard perfect beaches? You’ll find flour soft sand and warm, clear waters await.

Barbados is famous for its idyllic beaches, vibrant social scene and laidback atmosphere, making it the perfect place to conclude your dream Caribbean holiday.

The aptly named ‘Gold Coast’ boasts an abundance of unspoilt beaches with sugar white sand and sparkling waters which lend themselves perfectly to a variety of water sports. For an added touch of glamour, head to the famous Sandy Lane for an afternoon of star spotting.

Barbados is home to another UNESCO World Heritage site, the Garrison area of the island’s historic capital - Bridgetown. History buffs will love spending an afternoon here seeing famous sites including the Parliament Buildings and George Washington’s House.

No visit to Barbados would be complete with sampling the country’s most famous export, rum. Head to the Mount Gay distillery to see how the nation’s favourite drink is made and sample the world’s oldest rum.

As the sun goes down, enjoy dinner with a view at one of the island’s fine restaurants, where sumptuous fresh seafood is a speciality.
