Tours in the Caribbean

A retreat to the Caribbean promises an intoxicating burst of vibrant colour, with the kaleidoscopic hues of its lush emerald green forests, brilliant white sands and waters which graduate from enticing aquamarine shallows to vivid teal depths. The dazzling colours of the tropical islands don’t end at the ocean’s surface; venture below and you’ll discover a hidden world of serene beauty, with thriving coral reefs teeming with exotic marine life.

Our Viva Dominicana Escorted Tour sees you exploring the cobbled streets of historic Santo Domingo and the 16th century UNESCO World Heritage Site of Zona Colonial; delve deep into the fascinating history of this thriving capital and visit the ancient fortress of Fort San Felipe. Ride the cable car up Isabel De Torres Mountain for awe-inspiring panoramas as the towering Christ the Redeemer statue watches over the city before soaking up the paradise idyll of Cayo Levantado, also known as Bacardi Island.

Alternatively, take to the seas and join our Luxury St Lucia Catamaran Cruise tour. Blissfully sail across the Caribbean Sea in style, enjoying unspoilt vistas of the majestic volcanic Piton spires. Hike through subtropical forests, alive with the shrill calls of exotic birdlife, such as the bananaquit, St Lucia wren and the mangrove cuckoo. Experience phenomenal snorkelling in crystal clear waters as you observe parrot fish, turtles, golden spotted eel, and even nurse sharks, before heading inland and taking in the natural beauty of Diamond Falls and the surrounding botanical gardens.

Frequently Asked Questions

As the Caribbean is made up of 28 island nations, there are a number of different currencies in circulation. Our tours cover the Dominican Republic, St Lucia, Grenada, Antigua, The British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas.

The Dominican Republic, St Lucia, Antigua and Grenada all use the East Caribbean dollar, while the British Virgin Islands use US dollars, and the Bahamas use Bahamian dollar. Our itineraries here maintain a focus on rainforest hikes, sailing and snorkelling – we highly recommend you withdraw the necessary currencies prior to arrival, as ATMs will be scarce once you venture from city centres.

As the Caribbean enjoys a tropical climate, you can expect sunshine and clear skies almost all year round. We recommend visiting at the start of May, with the average temperature being around 26°C, and the sea being at its warmest. From mid-June to October, the Caribbean will enter its hurricane season. This should not be a cause for alarm – though rainfall will increase, and there may occasionally be strong winds – major storms aren’t all that common.

The vast majority of Caribbean islands speak English as a first or second language, as it is known as the language of tourism and business. Other languages spoken here, depending on your destination, will mostly likely be of European origin, including French, Spanish and even Dutch. English is the official language of the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, St Lucia and the Grenadines, while it is Spanish in the Dominican Republic.

Explore the tropical paradise of the Caribbean islands, laden with dense jungle, soaring volcanic peaks and pristine beaches. Each island offers its own distinct character – from a wealth of fascinating history and culture to exotic wildlife and sweeping coastlines. Wherever you choose to visit, you can rest assured you’re in for an unforgettable journey.
