Shop along Fifth Avenue and pick up beautiful designer fashions, before heading to Soho for all of the trendiest new eateries. When it comes to sightseeing, you can head to the top floor of the Empire State Building for the best views, or wander through Central Park and soak in the views of the skyscrapers surrounding it. The Statue of Liberty is not to be missed, as well as the New York Public Library and Grand Central Station.

Culture lovers should head to The Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met), where you can see Greek, Roman, ancient Egyptian and modern art. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) is home to famous Picassos, Starry Night by Van Gogh, Matisse pieces, Monet and more. Alternatively, catch a show on Broadway and experience the lively American audiences.

Beach

The Dominican Republic is the ideal destination for those wanting to simply relax and unwind. It’s home to powdery white beaches and luxury resorts where you can spend your days doing exactly what you want to, knowing everything is taken care of. For adventurous visitors there’s plenty on offer here too. Try one of the world’s of the best surf spots at UNESCO listed Macao Beach, or make the most of the crystal clear waters and 20 miles of pristine beaches along the Coconut Coast.

For a lively day out, why not visit the island’s capital – Santo Domingo? Its colonial architecture dates back to the 16th century and is home to Spanish buildings and pretty cobbled streets. Take a Segway tour and explore the many little backstreets and lively markets, or simply spend the day wandering between restaurants, bars, cafés and shops.

History lovers will find plenty for them in Santo Domingo. See Christopher Columbus pointing north in Columbus Park or visit the Caribbean’s first cathedral, the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor.
