Far East – Best time to go

Best time to visit the Far East

The Far East is a vast region with varying climates and seasons.

Thailand itself is different between East and West coasts so its always best to check with your Destination Specialist when enquiring about times of year and when the rainy seasons are. Our Spring and Autumn are popular times to visit China and Japan when conditions are warm and dry and foliage is at its most colourful. The Cherry Blossom in Japan is usually in bloom in February and March - we advise to book early to avoid disappointment.  June to August in China is best for trekking, particularly if you want to do the Great Wall of China. Southeast Asia is generally drier from October to April with temperatures reaching over 30°C and humidity passing 80%.

The Dragon Boat Festival in Hong Kong always takes place in June or July and is a sight to behold or, if you are a night owl, be sure to visit Singapore in August for the annual Singapore Night Festival - a fusion of arts and culture that spills out onto the streets.

In Vietnam, the Hoi An Lantern Festival takes place on the 14th day of every month. Capture that iconic photograph here as the sky is filled with light. In Myanmar, visit in October and you have the chance to see the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival. Here, a golden barge is pulled around Inle lake by rowers, the barge itself carrying four Buddha images.
