Here, you’ll receive the best in assistance and amenities - and a stunning blend of old-world charm and modern touches - with a large outdoor pool, multiple world-class restaurants and plush, elegant suites.

The Taj and Tigers tour begins in India’s capital city, Delhi. Steeped in history, with modernity appearing on every corner, Delhi is beautiful and bewildering. Spend your first afternoon roaming the city streets: exploring the glittering bazaars and stylish shops, stopping for a snack at a street-stall or boutique cafe, and taking a moment to adjust to the frenetic energy of this pulsating city. Tired from your journey, you may choose to simply relax at the hotel, cooling off with a refreshing dip in the pool before your India tour begins in earnest.

Over dinner, you’ll meet your Taj and Tigers tour manager, who can answer any questions and give you further information about the adventures ahead on your India itinerary.

This morning, a pick-up will collect you from your hotel at 9 am for a full day discovering both sides of Delhi - the first of the three Golden Triangle cities. Old Delhi introduces you to Mughal-era grandeur, where you’ll explore some of ancient India’s most incredible feats of architecture. Highlights include the imposing, sandstone Jama Mosque, the emblematic Red Fort, Raj Ghat (Mahatma Gandhi’s shrine) and Jama Masjid, an exquisite mosque offering beautiful views over the city.

New Delhi offers an entirely new perspective and encapsulates a different part of India’s past. Here, you’ll find British colonialism in the detail of every wall and window - from the grand India Gate to the sprawling Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s House). Find further wonder at the beautiful Humayun’s Tomb and towering Qutub Minar minaret.

A final breakfast at the hotel, and it’s time to leave Delhi, journeying on to the city of Agra. A transfer collects you from the hotel at 9 am, and a four-five hour drive transports you to the next stop on your Taj and Tigers tour: Agra and the spectacular Taj Mahal.

Arriving in the afternoon, you may want to take to the streets to explore - pausing for a cup of steaming chai or diving into the labyrinthine city bazaar. Spend the evening relaxing at your hotel and feasting on some delicious Indian cuisine. Whether you’re staying at Radisson Blu or ITC Mughal, you’ll receive the very best in service and assistance, with luxurious suites and every detail for a comfortable stay.

The Taj Mahal, Agra, with reflective pool

Waking at dawn, you’ll be transported to one of India’s most iconic and awe-inspiring monuments: the breathtaking Taj Mahal. A sunrise visit to the Taj provides an unforgettable experience, with pink and gold rays dancing across the white-marble facades and the sky glowing radiantly behind the domes and turrets. Visiting the Taj at dawn is a spectacular sight, and allows you to take in the magnificence with few other tourists around.

Built in 1560 by the renowned emperor Shan Jahan, to enshrine his queen Mumtaz Mahal’s remains, the Taj took 20,000 craftsmen from across the globe to build. A tour of the Taj, led by your expert local guide will introduce you to all the tales behind this breathtaking building. Agra Fort is another iconic landmark that you’ll explore while in Agra, highlighting the prestige of the Mughal Empire at the height of its power. Spend a romantic evening watching the sun set behind the Taj from Mehtab Bagh.

Suggested Accommodation

  • Radisson Blu or ITC Mughal
Fatehpur Sikri

Leaving the turrets and domes of Agra behind, the Taj and Tigers tour moves on to Ranthambore and the allure of India’s most exotic and rare creatures. After breakfast in Agra, you’ll head to Bharatpur railway station to board a train for the National Park. On the way, you’ll stop at Fatehpur Sikri, an eerie and deserted ancient city. The city was built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1569, and was used as Akbar’s capital for 14 years. Abandoned, it now stands as an astonishing - and still dazzling - “Ghost City” with ancient buildings, tombs and palaces incredibly well-preserved.

Rejoining civilisation, you’ll travel on to Laxmi Niwas Palace or Bharatpur to enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch. The Kota Jan Shatabdi Express is boarded at Bharatpur, speeding across the landscape to Sawai Madhopur, close to Ranthambore National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll be met and taken to your hotel - Tai Sawai Madhopur Lodge - where you can relax ahead of your epic tiger safari the following day.

This day brings much excitement - and the chance to see some of the world’s most mesmerising creatures in their natural habitats. Ranthambore National Park is an expansive tropical landscape of rolling grasslands and dense forest, home to the world’s highest density of wild Bengal tigers. These tigers roam the jungle through the day, particularly between the months of November and April, granting a high possibility you’ll see them during your Ranthambore tour. The morning and afternoon will be spent diving deep into the jungle, with expert guides to teach you about the native flora and fauna and Ranthambore’s exotic inhabitants. As well as the tigers, glimpse leopards, sloths, antelopes, bears, jackals and crocodiles slinking through the leaves. Bird-lovers will be enchanted by the abundance of tropical birds; over 270 different species found in Ranthambore National Park.

After a day immersed in the sights and sounds of the jungle, you’ll return to your jungle lodge. Nestled on the edge of Ranthambore National Park, the Madhopur Lodge has every ingredient for a post-safari relaxation: spacious suites, an elegant spa, outdoor pool, array of cuisines - and of course, an unmatched beauty of setting.

You’ll spend this morning in Ranthambore enjoying a lavish Rajasthani breakfast, relaxing by the pool and looking over the epic photographs from your Ranthambore tiger safari. Later in the day, the Taj and Tigers tour leaves Ranthambore, moving on to the next city of India’s Golden Triangle - the idyllic, dusky pink land of Jaipur. A four-five hour drive transports you to the Pink City, where you’ll be staying at the ITC Rajputana Hotel. Lounge in the hotel ahead of an action-packed day exploring Jaipur’s architectural wonders and fascinating heritage.

Today, you’ll embark on a grand tour of Jaipur, exploring all of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Discover the sprawling Amber Fort, an opulent and ornate palace complex. Peer up at Hawa Mahal, a stunning palace with numerous delicate pink terraces. Visit the Maharaja's City Palace - a former royal residence - and roam the breezy courtyards, cavernous rooms and immaculate gardens, covering one-seventh of Jaipur’s landscape. A trip to the on-site museum provides insights into the state’s history, with a vast collection of ancient weaponry. Astrologers will find interest at the Jantar Mantar observatory and its treasure trove of ancient astronomical instruments.
