Beautiful but hotel extorting too much money by allowing day visitors and therefore creating an overcrowded environment!

Surrey

I’m still currently staying at the Intercontinental, Bali. We’ve been touring around Bali and the Komodo Islands and chose the Intercontinental mainly on its convenient location to the airport as our final stop in beautiful Bali as knew our kids wouldn’t appreciate more travel towards the end of the holiday. The hotel is undoubtedly beautiful, the gardens and the pool areas are stunning. There are many wonderful parts to the hotel including the great Campervan bar that pulls up every evening for sundowners and a great view of the sunset on the beach. Food is good but not fantastic but there is a good choice and if you come with children they will be easily fed. However, do venture out of the hotel as there are many great restaurants serving fabulous food at a fraction of the price. We have tended to stay in the hotel as we wanted things to be easy. The thing that takes a star of this hotel review and in honesty I have thought about taking 2 stars off is their greed. No, I’m not talking about expensive meals or drinks as in any five star resort one gets used to that. It is instead the fact that the hotel allow anyone to come in on a day pass. This has meant that mid morning onwards over the last few days the hotel has been incredibly crowded. We came back from a white water rafting trip mid afternoon and were unable to get any loungers. This is beyond annoying when paying thousands of pounds to stay in a hotel that lets people in who are not. In addition, some of these “daytrippers“ have been obnoxious, loud and swearing. One even had a go at my son who was playing quietly and considerately with his ball. Staying here and paying lots of money really doesn’t make you feel special when anyone can come in at a fraction of the price, take all the loungers, space and serenity?? I would really encourage the management to rethink their policy and make their real guest feel a little more special. Housekeeping has been hit and miss. Our room and bathroom has been cleaned well but the cleaners have clearly decided our children’s bathroom is not worth the effort. We also haven’t had any of the toiletries replaced. It’s not a big deal as we have our own but it’s not the norm ofa5 star hotel either. All of this said however the staff are warm and welcoming and as previously mentioned the hotel and the gardens and pools are stunning.

beautiful hotel

Beautiful hotel, well maintained beach, beautiful garden, nice rooms and very friendly staff. I would recommend to try breakfast both outside and inside and dont forget the ice cream on the beach. For dinner try the small local restaurants outside the hotel, they provide excellent seafood at a good price. the only thing i was missing that the hotel was not really offering wide range of activities, sightseeing tours, etc. dont forget checking your voucher for free gift, I almost forgot my wooden frame.
