With picture-perfect panoramas almost everywhere you turn, it can be hard to know where to begin. Embarking on our Treasures of Kenya tour, you’ll first journey through Samburu National Reserve – home to a plethora of rare and exotic creatures, including the iconic Big Five, hippos, Tanzanian cheetah and impala. In addition, you’ll also spot the rare ‘Samburu Special Five’, which includes the Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx and gerenuk antelope. Experience these fascinating creatures as part of a thrilling 4x4 game drive, before witnessing the annual wildebeest migration to the Masai Mara. Occurring between July and October, this breath-taking display of nature often provides the opportunity to see Kenya’s predators in action – whether it be the prowling lions in the tall grasses, or the calculating crocodiles, lying in wait in the shallows as wildebeest cross the treacherous Mara River in search of greener pastures.

Marvelling at grazing rhinos and throngs of pink flamingos, our eight-day Kenya Horizons tour combines the incredibly varied landscapes of Lake Nakura National Park and its lush yellow acacia forests, waterfalls, grassy savannahs, and towering rock faces, with the bustling capital of Nairobi. Kenya’s official currency is the Kenyan shilling. As most of our tours maintain a focus on safari experiences, it is recommended you convert currency prior to arrival. Outside of Nairobi, you may have difficulty finding an ATM, but most restaurants, bars and hotels/lodges will accept credit cards. Please note, there may be an international usage fee applied.

Bantu Swahili and English – often a combination of both – are the country’s most widely spoken languages. You will find the majority of safari guides and bar, restaurant and hotel staff at your accommodations will speak English fluently enough for you to communicate with ease.
