Madagascar – Best time to go

Best time to visit Madagascar

Madagascar suffers from heavy rain between January and March as this is monsoon season so we do not recommend travel then as a lot of roads are impassable. However, these rains do leave the country covered in greenery and colourful plant life so when travelling in April to June it is very pretty, though you will experience the occasional down pour between the sunshine.

July and August is cool and dry, making this an ideal time for exploring. Whales arrive at Ile St Marie (a small island of the north east coast) in July and remain until the end of September.

September to November also has great weather with there being little chance of rain. This is the main time that lemurs have their young. While December is hot meaning lemurs and reptiles are particularly active.

Except for monsoon season from January to March, all other months are good for exploring Madagascar.
