Incredible Honeymoon!

Bahrain

I am finally writing this review after staying at Veligandu last month for our honeymoon. Before travelling to the Maldives, I had been warned by so many people I knew that my 10-day stay was too long, that I would be bored and that 5 days were more than enough. My husband and I can honestly say that we could have doubled our time at Veligandu and never gotten bored. I spent a very long time researching the best islands & hotels to visit and finally settled on Veligandu because it seemed to be the best value for money we could get. I was particularly influenced by the reviews on the sea life and snorkeling; even though a lot of the coral is bleached, the snorkeling here was supposed to be incredible and I'm so glad we got to experience it because it was even more than incredible. Most of my research involved Tripadvisor reviews so I want to leave one myself to tell anyone reading that this resort and island are incredible and exceeded our already high expectations. We honestly have never been happier or more relaxed on holiday, and have never seen such a beautiful setting with incredible turquoise water. We were very worried about the weather, which online was predicted to be stormy for every day we were there. We arrived on the day of a terrible storm (Male airport was leaking etc.) and our sea plane couldn't take off for a few hours but as soon as we arrived to the island, we were treated so incredibly well by all the staff there, and the weather was incredible about 95% of the time so we needn't have worried. We had booked an ocean villa, and our room was decorated for our honeymoon and the staff had left champagne and treats for us to enjoy. We spent every day trotting through the sand to breakfast (about a 5-7 minute walk from our room on the other side of the island), snorkeling on and off for hours at the beach and admiring all the amazing sea life with sharks swimming right up to the shore and teaching their babies how to hunt tiny fish, then back to our room for a lovely shower before going back out to dinner. Bliss. There is SO MUCH you can do. You will never be bored and I suspect that anyone who warned us of being bored in the Maldives just sat on the sand for days on end without exploring the options available, or Veligandu just has a lot more options than other resorts do. We booked an activity for about every other day - sunset dolphin cruise (We saw 6 amazing dolphins), turtle and manta ray snorkeling trip (due to weather we could not enter the manta ray point so just went snorkeling in a different area which was still lovely and we still saw a turtle), a wedding ceremony (gorgeous and we have beautiful pictures to commemorate our wedding - only two negative points here were that (1) we indicated we wanted the ceremony to be filmed and it wasn't and (2) a spa employee was desperate to get my husband to sign a bill for my hair and makeup while I was trying to have a "first look" moment with him where he saw me in my wedding dress. Minor gripes but they did leave a bad taste unfortunately) and a half day whale shark trip (2 hour boat ride to whale shark point where we got to swim with it, which was amazing and humbling). We had also booked night fishing one day but unfortunately could not go due to weather. We spent a couple of evenings in the game centre playing ping pong and darts. My husband also played football with the staff about 4 of the days and they all got along so well. The staff would ask at dinner where my husband was at 4pm if he didn't show up to football that day and make sure he came the next day! Food is great, especially the breakfast buffet with the waffles and eggs to order. We were on the all inclusive package but only managed to eat 2 meals a day because there was so much food. Really appreciated the fact that about 90% of the drinks are included on the package so we didn't have to worry about what we were ordering. Spa is beautiful. We went three times and had incredible massages and treatments after seeing the sharks swimming around the spa villa. Special staff mentions: Abdulla H Akram Navidh Our wedding photographer (I have forgotten her name but she was so lovely and really made us smile so the photos came out beautiful) All the staff were amazing but these four stood out to us and we wanted to thank them personally. I can't thank Veligandu enough for the incredible honeymoon they gave us. We will definitely be back!

Best in class among 4-star resorts around the islands of Indian oceans (Mauritius,Seychelles and Maldives)

Kiev, Ukraine

Food is stunning even for all-inclusive menu, plenty of exotic fruits given opportunity to change daily diet, the experience and vision of chef "Sigi" make you feeling as on 5 star + resorts around the islands of Indian oceans like Seychelles, Mauritius and of course Maldives Obviously, cannot repeat the the same things with food quality and variety in my country, because too expensive and needs much time of truly qualified work I see the real progress in quality of daily work of waiters and their attentiveness for significant details. Beaches are cleanest as possible. Staff in spa enough qualified. Management has high level vision for given repeated user the new possibilities and reloading existing experience therefore I approve of it by my three-time visit to the resort. Thanks to the work of the general manager, my third visit was completely new. Many thanks to Fathuhulla Ibrahim.
