A popular choice for luxury in Mauritius

Set on 62 acres of tropical grounds on the north-west coast at Turtle Bay Marine National Park, Maritim Resort & Spa is 20 minutes by road from Port Louis and Grand Baie, and offers some of the best experiences this side of the island. With such a short drive from the shopping and nightly hot spots of the town, back at the hotel you'll find reassuringly elegant and luxurious facilities and activities, with rooms offering calm and relaxing interiors with balconies or terraces as well as spacious bathrooms and other exclusive additions.

Take to the water with kayaking and diving, or play a couple of rounds at the professionally designed 9-hole golf course. For something altogether more relaxing, visit the hotel spa and enjoy a plethora of relaxing treatments and facilities. There is a choice of four restaurants plus a feet-in-the-sand beer garden pub and a fine dining like no where else on the island at the romantic Chateau Mon Desir Restaurant — a popular choice located inside a colonial-style mansion.

  • Beautiful tropical setting
  • Great for families
  • 9-hole professionally designed golf course

Good hotel

This was a good hotel with plenty to do . Staff were very friendly and helpful . The only aspect that let’s this hotel down is the meals . The buffet food is not good and very unorganised. The other restaurants are good but there is very limited availability and during a 10 night stay we could only book 3 of the restaurants once leaving us to eat in the buffet 7 nights .

Lovely Hotel with very good value AI package compared to other Mauritius hotels, Please Ignore Overly negative reviews.

Chester, United Kingdom

We have just returned from an amazing holiday at Maritm. This was our second list to Maritim, our first 6 years ago. This time we booked a suite, which was a lovely treat. It was serviced several times a day and our minibar contents were stocked to our wishes. Our friendly and attentive Butlers helped organise the things we wanted, ( many thanks to all of you) including bookings in A la Carte restuarants. We had our preferred bottle of sparkling wine delivered to our room at our preferred time every day with some nibbles. The view from our large balcony was amazing, and we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets immensely with a glass of chilled fizz in hand. The difference in price to upgrade to a suite was very reasonable in my opinion. Reading recent reviews, as in any hotel anywhere, we realised not to expect a ' Perfect experience'. To be honest we realise not many things in life are totally perfect, and almost perfect should be good enough for any of us? a tiny chip in our sparkling clean lovely large bath, or a cracked tile in the bathroom isn't going to ruin your holiday unless you focus on it surely? The hotel is being refurbished next year and the price you pay for this lovely hotel is very reasonable, compared to the competition. A lot of reviews here seem to nit pick all sorts of minor issues? An obsession with perfection seems to be making the world miserable! May all our glasses be 'half full' at all times! The service in restaurants and bars are generally attentive but also relaxed and friendly , very occasionally slow when they are particularly busy, but what is the rush if you want a relaxed feel to your Mauritian holiday? We really enjoyed our breakfast and lunches in La Maree restaurant, and also most of our Dinners. We liked the very friendly staff table service of freshly cooked fish there, particularly because we don't eat meat. The view from the restaurant is sublime. We ate the delicious Lobster night menu, and also the Camaran night which are giant King Prawns, both at a supplement. We paid extra 990 rupees for a decorated table on the beach for our Anniversary. My suggestions for improved experience here would be to have a vegetarian starter available without supplement every lunchtime. When we ate in The Belle Vue Restaurant was a good choice of food which should please most people's tastes. The Banyan had limited options on AI for our food restrictions but the AI choices we did try were lovely. We also treated ourselves to a meal at the Chateau which was a lovely experience. Please beware the price of a glass of Champagne however 990 rupees OUCH! Three course meal with wine and aperitif came to £200 There are many included activities within the AI package, and we enjoyed the Water Skiing,Glass bottomed boat, snorkelling, Yoga, Giant Chess, Petanque. The drinks and food choices available on AI are very clear and easy to understand. The extras at supplement increase your choice if you want it. That is why they are there! The wine offering on AI could be improved, however. All the wines were blended, and I react to certain grapes so didn't risk them. We had reserved places on the Suite beach, after a few days changed to a spot with an extra large Parasol so we could choose to stay out of the sun. The beach butler was very attentive replenishing our drinks when we were there. I agree very much with a previous reviewer who stated: Cats and Dogs: A number of reviewers have mentioned there are what appear to be feral cats and dogs wandering around the estate and especially on the beach. Cats do walk in and around tables at La Maree for example, located right on the beach. These observations are accurate. On our excursions around Mauritius we did notice a number of cats and dogs apparently wandering free and since all beaches are public beaches, it could be this is a feature of the island generally rather that a problem specific to the Maritim. If you have an aversion to cats and dogs you may wish to check with any hotel in Mauritius you are considering. It was not a problem for us. It was not a problem for us either. The hotel discourage guests from feeding animals in the restaurants but I saw a number of guests doing it which encourages the animals, but they soon move on if you ignore them or gently shoo them away. The staff also do this. Hotels response re cats and dogs: Mauritius, in general over an Island, encounter problems with stray dogs and cats. ' Our resort is an animal friendly resort and we help as far as we can. The resort catch, vaccinate and sterilize the stay animals whenever they come nearer to the hotel compound. With the help of the ONG PAWS, who regularly comes for visit for special care, we also try to find homes for the puppies and cats. However, the resort is unable to keep all stray dogs, hence, the dog café was integrated and we now have fourteen fixed adopted dogs and one cat of which we take care daily. We constantly strives to find the balance between our guests and the amount of stray dogs in the hotel compound. With this organisation, we are able to expatriate dogs and cats to their new owners every year.' I feel this a very responsible approach by the Hotel. The grounds of the hotel are very beautiful and we enjoyed walking around and exploring, visiting the Giant tortoises and the horses, and watching the riders on the beach. We also enjoyed a couples massage on our anniversary, the Spa area is beautiful. Overall we had a very positive experience at Maritim, and do not hesitate to recommend it to others. We look forward to going back after the refurbishment!
