The Chedi Muscat

An elegant taste of Omani luxury

The Chedi Muscat is 21-acres of luxurious Omani-inspired architecture, beautifully manicured zen-style gardens, 370-metres of private beach, and world-class hotel facilities. It seamlessly blends the contemporary with the traditional with a choice of six restaurants and two lounges including an Arabian Courtyard and chic eateries by each of the three swimming pools — including the unique Long Pool which extends for over 100 metres. Rooms are brilliantly-appointed and those in the Chedi Wing of the hotel even offer daily complimentary minibar items to all guests. Its environment geared particularly towards adults, the resort has the largest spa in Muscat and two floodlit tennis courts to book, and is just a short drive from the airport and the city's main attractions.

The Club Lounge didn't provide the standard we were looking for - otherwise, we would give it 5 star!!

Ramsey

Couldn't fault the staff - professional throughout the resort. Breakfast was sumptuous with a range of food covering all cultures. The main restaurant had a strong Indian influence with a lot of the chefs and staff coming from India. This cuisine was equally delicious and being super critical, I'd have liked to have had more Arabic food to choose from say Lebanese/Morrocan. The Spa was a great experience and both the Balinese Massage and Hot Stone Therapy were superbly executed by the Balinese masseurs. The grounds are immaculate - well done to the ground staff. Our villa was on the seafront - albeit set back with a restricted view. Fridge and drinks are plentiful (continuously stocked up on a daily basis) with complimentary nuts, apricots and fruit. We were unfortunate to have a burst hot water pipe in my wardrobe - which flooded the villa and saturated my clothes and shoes. The laundry team did well to wash, dry and press everything within 2 hours - this impressed me. The first person to arrive at the scene tried to turn on the lights - but we stopped him. You do not turn on electricity when there is so much water around - and this could have made the situation worse. However, we have passed these comments to the Assistant GM as a constructive criticism for the training of the maintenance team. He accepted these comments with the spirit in which it was intended. Our only negative, having stayed for 10 days - was the Club Lounge which is complimentary to guests in the villas. It was rather an odd atmosphere - feeling that you were sitting in a library with little room inside. The afternoon teas and canapés became boring as there was not much choice and little change on options on a day to day basis. Thus, we stopped going for afternoon tea and had a drink in our villa in the evenings instead. All said and done, the staff made the holiday as did the chefs delivering first class food. The location on the beach is good and there is ample choice of pools. We were unlucky with the weather experiencing 3 days of torrential rain and this is the desert!! No fault is attributed to The Chedi - something that was out of their control.

The Chedi - simply stunning

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

A beautiful resort which makes you feel zen from the moment you arrive in the huge tented lobby to the time you depart. The grounds are huge and beautifully manicured, with water features throughout. The grounds stretch down to the beach, which is not that great, but it doesn’t matter because there are three good sized swimming pools within the hotel. Our room was lovely. Lovely classical design with a high ceiling, dark wood, two sinks and a great shower. The generous number of soft drinks in the mini bar, together with beer, were complimentary. There was a good selection of tv channels and current movies on the TV and an exceptionally comfortable bed. There are a range of restaurants offering cuisine from around the world available. We opted for the beach restaurant - which offered sea food just 10 meters from the sea. The food and service were faultless. There was also a bar area offering shisha in the evening. The breakfast buffet was great - everything you need to start the day. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating available. Many thanks to the staff and particular mentions to Brian for looking after us as we lounged by the pool, Fouad, who looked after us at breakfast, and Channuka, who served us at the bar and was charming. A stunning resort in a stunning city. We could happily have spent a week here...
