Picturesque backdrop, exceptional service, beautifully crafted

An intimate boutique hideaway which towers high above the crystal blue Caribbean Sea commanding some of the best views of St Lucia's famous Pitons, Ladera is a tropical haven. Understand That This Is An ECO-Resort & You Will LOVE It

Some of my friends have asked how my hubby and I liked our two nights of “glamping” on Saint Lucia...in my opinion, they are missing half of what this resort is all about. My hubby and I stayed in Paradise Ridge #3 for two nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a PERFECT choice with the heated pool and the butler service. Of course, the tree frogs are quite noisy at night and we slept under a mosquito net...we expected that. The pleasant surprise was the lack of critters and insects...NO problem. The surroundings are heavenly, however the experience was made perfect by the staff. Our main butler Jenny was SO wonderful as was our evening butler Schol. Shekina in the restaurant was such a sweet hostess and Eva kept our room spotless. The ride from Rodney Bay to the West side of the Southern part of the island to get here is not for the weak of heart nor tummy. You can take a water taxi or a helicopter if you prefer. Two nights were perfect for us, but honeymooners should stay longer.

Top 5 places we’ve ever stayed at

Can’ t rave enough about this place. Everything is perfect starting from the beautiful grounds, amazing views, breathtaking sunsets, nature sounds, lush landscape, mountain& sea views, the heated pools, the chic design of the furniture, etc. Even a few months after visiting this place, my husband and I find ourselves talking frequently about it. It has made quite an impression. You simply have to experience it yourself, videos and photos just don’ t do it justice. Tips: - try one of the heated pool rooms, it will change your experience completely. Totally worth it!! - bring bug-spray. It’ s lush and beautiful but the bugs also love it. - try the restaurant across the resort just for a change.

What to do and what NOT to do

The resort has breath taking views!! We stayed in the hill top suite, pictured below. If we did not have the view of the hilltop suites (I was told by other guests not all rooms did) I would NOT spend the money to stay here. The suite came with a heated pool, which was amazing, you can turn the heater off if you don’t prefer it. The staff is also very friendly and as accommodating as possible. The resort is also kept tidy. There is NO A/C and the beds are not the most comfortable. The wood work and view are the only reasons I would visit this resort and for two days max due to the heat. If you go for dinner, or any meal, be prepared to spend at least and hour and half the service is SLOW for sub par meals. We ordered room service and the meal we received was lacking quite a few items that were in the description. The menu is also expensive for what you get, the lunch menu is the only reasonably priced option that is actually better than the dinner options in my opinion. Activities: I would not recommend booking any tours through the hotel, as they are over priced and even though they do not tell you upon booking, your tour may be cancelled or you will be charged twice the already expensive amount quoted if a minimum guest count is not achieved. For example, we booked the fish fry event (which I will address later) and we were called an hour before departure and told we would have to pay $280 when we were quoted $180 because no one else signed up. We also booked the Gros Piton hiking tour, do not go unless you are fit and determined to make it to the top. It was raining quite heavily and we called to cancel. We were told we would still be charged 50%, even though there are cancellation fees for tours but this one with quite a few others were listed with no cancellation policy. So we hiked in the rain, making the already STRENUOUS trail slippery and dangerous. My companion almost fell off the mountain because of the conditions and a handrail breaking on the trek down. Where to book tours: there is a complementary shuttle that takes you down to Sugar beach, which is a public beach, so when the viceroy employee asks you to move, you do NOT have to (their resort takes up 90% of the beach so sit where you want). There are tons of boats that will come up and offer the same tours but at discounted rates, you can also haggle and don’t be afraid to! The fish fry event was ok.. it is a long boat ride for an even longer street festival. This would be fun for young couples who plan on being extremely intoxicated. The food was delicious!!! The drinks were also cheap. Those are the only two perks, it was a complete waste of 5 hours (you don’t get back until atleast 11:00pm). I would suggest taking a boat taxi, that you can also snorkel with, to Anse La Ray where you can experience local food and drink very inexpensively. (Our captain only charged $100 for the two of us and im sure I could’ve talked him down more, this included snorkeling, rum punch and Piton beer, along with the boat ride).
