Excellent Stay at Sugar Beach

Boston, Massachusetts

General: My boyfriend and I stayed at Sugar Beach for five nights to celebrate his birthday. I have ZERO complaints about this hotel. From the moment you walk in, everything is top-notch. We were greeted with a delicious coconut water (served in the actual coconut) and a cool towel. The resort manager, Petra, immediately came over and introduced herself and inquired about our trip. Side note about Petra: she is incredibly upbeat and nothing is too much for her or her staff. This hotel really exemplified A+ customer service. Someone is always checking in with you, the minibar is always stocked, you get little treats in your room each night, etc. Location: This hotel’s location cannot be beat. It is at the base of and in-between the two Pitons. The views from the beach/pool and rooms cannot be beat. We stayed in a Superior Sugar Mill Room (#2). We had an ocean view as well the Pitons. Even walking to the gym each morning (which is a hike because you go up the mountain- a little addition to your actual workout) has great scenery. Specifics: The spa at Sugar Beach is a must. It’s built in a series of tree houses and has such a unique feel. At the hotel, we had dinner at the Great Room and Cane Bar- both were delicious. People have commented about the prices of food- yes they are high, but you are at a 5 star resort at the base of a mountain. The price falls in line with where you’re staying. If you want to dine at Jade Mountain, contact Jade Mountain directly before your trip. Jade Mountain only accepts reservations from Sugar Beach the day of. We spoke to a few other couples who contacted JM a month prior to their trip and were able to have dinner there. Outside of the resort, we dined at both Ladera (amazing sunset) and Boucan- both were excellent. I would also recommend Sugar Beach’s sunset cruise. The views of the coastline from the Catamaran are unparalleled. Overall, the experience at Sugar Beach was amazing. We’ll be back!

Perfect getaway

We had a memorable one week stay here before coming home to the coronavirus chaos. The villa was beautiful and spacious with the most amazing view and it’s own pool. We were looked after so well by our butlers - Ethan, Keitha and lovely bubbly Makela. I can’t rate them highly enough. There were little treats left for us each day. At the beach they brought round cold drinks, cold lavender scented flannels, frozen jellies... the list goes on. The food was good but prob the priciest I’ve seen in a hotel. The weekly bbq was good with a great ceviche station. Rum punches were to die for. The shuttle service to get around was flawless and everyone so friendly, chilled and helpful. We went to relax and relax we did. Hard to find fault. One last thing. I saw somewhere on tripadvisor somebody thought that the security on the beach was over the top. Most of the time I would agree that although discreet, it did feel unnecessary.... until on Saturday a large bunch of drunken travellers arrived on a boat and then the two security men made it clear that they couldn’t just go and wander around the resort or throw rocks around. Just that one day I was glad they were there.
