Tango and Samba Tour

South America's crown jewels

Our Tango and Samba tour takes you to the two fascinating cities of Buenos Aires in Argentina and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Both are famous for their love of dance and music, as raw and exciting as the scenery surrounding the cities. Explore the Argentinean Tango capital, home to Eva Peron and explore its surrounds. Continue to the natural beauty that is Iguazu Falls, where the water's thundering sound creates its own dance beat. Finally, change the rhythm to a Samba in Rio, home of Sugar Loaf Mountain, Copacabana Beach and Christ the Redeemer Statue on Corcovado Mountain. 2018 Tour Departures 13th January 2018 24th February 2018 10th March 2018 14th April 2018 19th May 2018 09th June 2018 14th July 2018 25th August 2018 29th September 2018 13th, 20th October 2018 17th, 24th November 2018

The tour will then carry onto the districe San Telmo. Until 1888 this part of the city was a river port, today it is one of the most modern and desirable places to live in Buenos Aires. The worker district La Boca is famous for its colourful tin-houses and its history. The Barrio Norte called Recoleta is the quarter of the rich of Buenos Aires. On the cemetery of Recoleta you will find the grave of Eva Duarte who became famous as Evita Perón. Continue along the widest avenue in the world, the Avenida 9 de Julio, to the Plaza Lavalle with the Federal Court of Justice and the Teatro Colón, to Palermo with its parks and gardens. Return to your hotel in the early evening.

Enjoy a complete day out in the Pampas! This morning, drive to a typical Argentinian ranch, the Estancia Santa Susana, where you will be welcomed by the 'gauchos' with a local drink. You will have time to visit the homesteads and understand more about their daily life. Horse rides will show you the charm of the Argentinian countryside and you will have the opportunity to ride a horse should you choose to. Enjoy a rustic barbeque (asado) lunch with the finest meat and sausages. After lunch, you will enjoy a folklore show with regional music and dances. During the fiesta, the Gaucho's will showcase their agility on the horses.

Points of Interest

After breakfast, depart on the half day Tigre Delta Tour. Drive along the Northern residential districts of the city, until getting to San Isidro, a colonial and aristocratic area. You will soon come to Tigre, a charming area near Buenos Aires city. It is one of the most attractive areas for visitors with its rivers, streams and numerous green islands. The sediment of the Parana River, which gives the river and estuary their brown/red colour forms the Delta islands. Next enjoy a boat excursion (approx 1 hour) along the innumerable channels of the Parana-Delta to see some of the hundreds of islands covered with vegetation. After, drive back to the city via the Panamericana highway. The rest of day is available for your leisure. In the evening enjoy dinner and a tango show.

Points of Interest

Take a morning flight to Iguazu and upon arrival, travel to the Argentinean National Park and the visitors centre before heading to the Interior Circuit (the down-river falls) and the Superior Circuit (the up-river cascades). The Ecological Jungle Train leads you to the most impressive observation point of the falls, The Devil's Throat. After this, depart to the Brazilian side of the falls and transfer to your hotel.

Today you visit the Brazilian side of the falls. Walk along the paths following cascades and the walkway that leads close to Devil's Throat. Afternoon is at your leisure.

Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro. Arrive in Rio and transfer to your hotel before having a stroll along Copacabana Beach. Rio is surrounded by natural beauty on all sides and overooked by Christ the Redeemer, perched on top of Corcovado blessing the city and Sugar Loaf, one of the most famous postcards of the country.

After breakfast you have a chance to enjoy a tour of Corcovado. Depart on the cogtrain for the ride through Tijuca Forest up to Corcovado Mountain and enjoy scenic landscapes of the beaches and the city. Climb the steps to the top, where the towering statue of Christ the Redeemer stands. The tour continues, passing by Rio’s world-famous beaches as far as Urca District to board a cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain. At 1200 feet high, this is an experience you will never forget. In the evening, opt to experience a folklore and carnival show featuring skilled dancers, entertainers, samba bands and wonderful costumes in a wonderful display of Brazilian folklore and Carnival.
