Standing at 5,895 metres tall, and taking around five days to climb to the summit, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa with views that are out of this world.

The epic mountain has three volcanic cones,a snow-capped peak and overlooks the plains of both Kenya and Tanzania. Trekking on Mount Kilimanjaro is popular and there are numerous climbing routes through every type of climate, from lush rainforests to snowy peaks. 

Even if you don't make the hard slog to the top, it's still an amazing sight to see; rising above the clouds and glowing amber as the sun rises and sets behind it. It truly is an iconic jewel of South Africa's landscape and must not be missed off your itinerary.
