City of contrasts

Bangkok offers a fascinating blend of traditional and modern, bursting with vibrancy and making for the perfect stopover destination.

A trip to the city wouldn’t be complete without a spot of shopping; from swanky upmarket boutiques to authentic market stalls, there’s something for everyone. We recommend visiting one of the floating markets and immersing yourself in the chaos as the locals cook and sell you various treats as they paddle by. Another great way to see the city is by Tuk Tuk; hire a driver and spend a few hours hopping between the many stunning temples. For the best view in the house, head to a roof top bar and take in the sparkling scenes of the city at night time.

Add to your city break by visiting nearby Singapore, or for an easy combination of city and beach, head by road to Hua Hin or Pattaya.

Top Tips from our Experts

Destination Specialist

“Head up Lebua at State Tower for amazing views of the city, it's free to visit the viewing platform. See where the famous scene from The Hangover Part II was filmed.”

Mel

“Don't be afraid to use a taxi, they're super cheap! Make sure that you tell the driver to use the meter though. Alternatively, tuk tuks are a fun way of getting around and they only cost a little more.”

Verity

General Manager

“From the moment you arrive, you’ll notice the customary greeting of palms pressed together in a prayer-like bow. Don’t be shy - return the gesture and the higher your hands are pressed towards your face, the more respect you’ll show.”
