Koh Lanta Holidays
You’ll find yourself talking wax lyrical after you’ve spent time on the beaches in Koh Lanta Thailand, and with good reason. From the wide, soft sandy Klong Dao to the pristine beach of Mu Koh Lanta National Park, everyone seems to have their own favourite.
Koh Lanta is a remote archipelago made up of 52 islands in the south-west of Krabi province, with the biggest island being Koh Lanta Yai. Set yourself up in a hammock by the beach with some fresh coconut juice and a good holiday read. It’s a world away from the crowds of some other resorts. From most beaches you will witness the beautiful islets that rise out of the emerald waters into the blue skies above, framed by the white sands.
The Thai people take pride in keeping Koh Lanta beaches impeccably clean and if you rise early you will spot enthusiastic resort staff roaming the beach in pairs with conical baskets to collect any rubbish.
A dazzling island paradise on Koh Lanta holidays
When you’ve properly relaxed, rent a scooter for the day and explore the secluded coves, dense mangroves and lush jungles of the national park, which stretches out into the Andaman Sea. A short boat ride away are the twin islands of Koh Rok, where coral-white beaches and crystal clear water provide the ideal spot if you’d like an amazing snorkelling experience.
Away from the beaches, we recommend you visit the old lighthouse on the western cliff tops for the best views on the island. Then explore Koh Lanta Old Town, where you can explore the charm of the traditional Thai-Chinese shophouses, which are built of teakwood, sit on stilts and are decorated with brightly-coloured lanterns. This is an ideal place if you’re looking for a good meal away from your beach resort or fancy a spot of shopping.
In the evening, why not head to Khlong Nin Beach? This is a popular place to gather with other like-minded tranquil travellers and watch the sun go down from the beachside bars and restaurants. Lounge on a bean bag with sand between your toes and raise a glass to the infinite colours bathing the sky. You’ll feel far removed from the bustle of everyday life - this is a place where you can truly relax.
Krabi to Koh Lanta is an easy ferry ride so you have the option of combining a few different Thailand beach destinations during your holiday itinerary. Make sure you save a few days at the beginning or end of your holiday for the bright lights of Bangkok, Thailand’s fabulous capital city.

Lanta Old Town
Lanta Old Town is a charming little place with houses and shops built on stilts, perched above the sea. Teak wood-lined streets are home to a cosmopolitan mix of Thai-Buddhist, Thai Chinese, Thai Muslim and Chao-Lay (sea gypsies), giving the town a richly diverse atmosphere. Fishermen catch fresh seafood for you to eat at the numerous restaurants, and there is shopping at the many markets and small shops scattered along the main street.

Senior Destination Manager
“Koh Lanta is one of the best places in all of Thailand to do yoga. Try a calming yoga class on the beach or sign up for a multi-day yoga retreat. If you want to try something new, the calm waters here are great for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) beginners.”

Destination Specialist
“The neighbouring island of Ko Lanta Yai is home to semi-nomadic sea people known as the Chao Leh or ‘sea gypsies’. Take some time to learn more about this unique culture.”
