Phi Phi Holidays

A tropical paradise where you can relax and unwind or party the night away, Koh Phi Phi holidays are the perfect island getaway during your trip to Thailand.

Idyllically located between the island of Phuket and the coast of Thailand, the Phi Phi islands, which include Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Le, are home to white sandy beaches, sparkling turquoise waters, dramatic limestone cliffs and some of Thailand’s most buzzing nightlife.

Phi Phi island holidays leave you wanting more

A firm favourite with tourists and on most Thailand travel itineraries, the Koh Phi Phi islands are as close to paradise on earth as you can get. Visitors flock to the incredible beaches for unrivalled snorkelling and to revel in the lively party scene once the sun goes down.

Phi Phi offers some of the best snorkelling and scuba diving in Thailand. Take the chance to explore the emerald ocean with a trained instructor and see colourful fish and marine life up close. If snorkelling isn’t your thing, you can rent a kayak and paddle over the calm waters to see the impressive limestone cliffs towering over the ocean.

A short trek over easy terrain, Phi Phi Viewpoint gives you a bird’s eye view of the islands. Sit back and cool down with a drink at the top as you take in the incredible view from above. For a true taste of island life, visit the market in Tonsai Village. Here, you can scoop up local fruits, veg and delicious fresh seafood while soaking up the atmosphere. If simply eating Thai food isn’t enough, put your market buys to use at a local cooking class, where you can learn how to cook some of Thailand’s most famous dishes.

As night falls and the sun sets, Phi Phi comes alive. You’ll be spoilt for choice by the many bars where you can sip a cocktail and enjoy karaoke and live music until the early hours.

“Lots of people visit Koh Phi Phi for a day trip but the island has much more to offer than a short visit allows. Spend a couple of nights at one of the resorts to really get a feel for island life and explore the incredible natural beauty.”

“Tourists flock to Phi Phi and it’s one of the most popular islands to visit in Thailand, so book your accommodation in advance. Hotels get booked up quickly and you risk not having a room if you don’t book ahead.”

  • Songkran festival

Arguably Thailand’s most famous festival, Songkran takes place every April and marks the Thai New Year. During this exuberant three-day celebration, locals take to the streets to welcome in the new year. Happy festival-goers drench each other with water from buckets and water pistols to signify washing away negativity and bringing luck for the year ahead. Giant, colourful Buddha images are paraded through the streets, and many Thai people return home over the holiday period to visit relatives. Throughout the festivities, delicious street food is served to keep the revellers going.

  • Chak Phra festival

Celebrated in Southern Thailand, Chak Phra festival takes place at the beginning of the eleventh lunar month and marks the end of Buddhist Lent. The festival, which means ‘pulling the Buddha’, symbolises Buddha’s return to earth after the monsoon season spent in heaven with his mother. Much of the celebration revolves around the Tapi River, where boats pull striking Buddha images across the water. On land, the streets are decorated with colourful flags and parasols. Longboat teams from across the region also compete in an exciting traditional race on the river.

  • Seafood

As it’s surrounded by the ocean, seafood features heavily in Phi Phi cuisine, and many local dishes contain locally caught fish. Prawns, lobster, crab and other shellfish are widely eaten and served in a variety of ways – often in a tasty curry or barbecued and served with a choice of dipping sauces. Phi Phi island cuisine is a tasty mix of curries, noodle and rice dishes served with meat or vegetables and flavoured with fragrant herbs, like lemongrass and Thai basil. Chillies add a touch of heat to many recipes, but a splash of creamy coconut milk helps keep dishes on the milder side of hot.
