Amazing hotel

Southampton, United Kingdom

I have visited this hotel 5 times now over the past 8 years!I have also been to many parts of Thailand but always love our stay at this special hotel. We had asked for certain villas if possible and we were not disappointed! We stayed in Villa 5 and it was beautiful! The Cape Panwa has a lovely private beach and is very well run.Would like to say a huge Thankyou to Dan and Benn on the front desk who were always helpful and great to talk to.,as were all the staff.I hope to return to this unspoilt piece of Thailand in the near future.😘

Not luxury or 5 star

Ruabon, United Kingdom

Just spent 9 nights here in a pool villa. Very disappointing. Most of the front line staff are great, special acknowledgement to the ones in bamboo , otters & top of the reef. First impressions are not good, you are met with a cold towel & a drink, the reception is open with some very dusty looking fish sculptures hanging from the ceiling they look like they have been there from opening some 30 years ago. We were then taken to the pool villa, the pathway is not the best and you pass underneath a walk way into an area that looks likes a maintenance area and where staff smoke as there are butt ends in this area all of the time which is not a good impression. We arrived at our villa door opened and left not a tour or orientation of the property. The villa is very dated and poorly maintained no way near the quality & standard the uplift in rate. See attached photos. Had two immediate problems, porch light not working & could not draw the curtains in the living area these were fixed quickly. The beach area is OK, but there are couple of things the brochure does not mention, the resort is next to the the main oil import terminal so we had a view of three large ships moored, also it is very tidal and when it’s low it reveals a large rocky area between the sea and sand. Gets quite rough also so be careful with young children. Breakfast has a bit of a problem with birds as it’s open and they are all over the food areas & table. Be cautious about anything left uncovered as we saw them eating the cereal, drinking the milk on the table etc. Did the steak night, which is scheduled to be open until 10, we went @ 9 and were almost the last guests, steaks do not look anything like the pictures, it was tough and not nice at all very disappointing, we were asked each time we went up if we had finished if we answered yes they cleared the area. Would not recommend this experience at all. Top of the reef is great, food is good and the service is well placed. General outdoors areas again not in the best maintain state, we are just entering the high season so would expect areas to be in good repair and ready. General areas in the hotel gave no AC so it can get very hot. Would avoid the light house bar, very dated , low standards and staff not the most attentive, we sat outside for 10 mins before I went inside to surprise the staff who were all on their phones. Would not return, would not recommend this place and what ever you do don’t pay the huge supplement for the pool villa. To top it off we leave tomorrow and have just been notified of our pick up @ 14:00, so I popped to reception to see if we could delay check out to be told I have to go back in the morning to see, I bid state that there are only 6 villas and surely they must know, but got told to return in the morning,. This has been well below the standard expected and the worst holiday our usual luxury travel agent has sold us.
