Bittersweet.

It is hard to explain how I feel about the resort. It started off quite painfully, but ended very sweeetly. 1. Kid bikes are all rusty and broken. 2. Kids club is tiny. 3. Fitness is small. 4. Therapists skill in spa is average to below average. 5. Spa room is below average (strange massage bed, it is not good for your neck if its badly adjusted), no toilet/shower in room. 6. Food price is disgusting i. e. 4,300++ THB PER HEAD for simple Thai set dinner?, 700++ for pineapple fried rice? That pineapple must be grown on Mars. Minestrone soup is 350++ THB? MUCH Overcharged. Greedy. So greedy that I feel disgusted. Its more reasonable for this super expensive price on Maldives because of the logistics, but not here in Phuket (just for your reference, the 6 stars Rosewood charged only 350 for fried rice, plus 20% discount. This made me think that you (Anantara Layan) are making profit by selling reasonable price of room to your poor hotel guests, letting them assume that everything in the hotel will be sold at reasonable price just like the room, after the guests are trapped in your well isolated resort (no restaurants around, no 7-11 etc.), then you can shamelessly rob your guests daily. On the first day, I phoned guest service 3 times to ask about lunch venue/price, the first 2 times, my phone calls were cut off. The 3rd time, it was transferred to someone who eventually told me the price of the Sunday brunch and said the tables were fully booked when they weren't! I phoned again many many times before I can get a proper answer. After that, my husband asked for fresh milk to make coffee/tea in room. We got UHT milk instead, then he phoned again saying we asked for fresh cold milk so we can save it for later in the fridge, but the milk came hot this time. Just about to make another phone call for the milk, a male staff arrived at our villa but not to deliver the problematic milk. Instead, he gave me some weird stuffs i. e. half drinking bottle of beer, books, pieces of papers etc. I said they were not mine, then he said 'oh, are you not moving from another room?' no I wasn't. I just arrived and wanted to leave already. However, after I called the room service to cancel my dessert (that I previously ordered) because I was too upset to eat. The lady was concerned about my emotional voice and reported the situation to a manager, K Jif, who came to apologize for all the difficulties. Then everything got better. Breakfast is very good. I received a delicious birthday cake from the resort. Thank you so much. I got a beautiful flowers basket from the kindest housekeepers. Thank you very much. K Peggy, the lady at kids club was very kind and helpful. Thank you. My kids eventually got a chance to ride the bikes on the last day. It was very enjoyable for the whole family, so, thank you.

This accomodation is picture perfect. The ocean is beautiful to swim in, the lounges and bar are comfortable and staff look after your every need. The suite with plunge pool is an added luxury to have your own privacy and still have the option to swim and be social around the main pool or the beach when you feel like it. The best thing about this place is how friendly the staff are. Such lovely people. Treat yourself, you get what you pay for!
