Madinat Jumeirah Al Qasr

Meaning the "Palace"

Meaning 'The Palace', Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah is approached by an avenue lined with trees and sculpted horses, a style reminiscent of a Sheikh's summer palace. Traditional in design, with large windows and extensive gardens creating a sense of grandeur. Waterways link to the well designed Madinat Jumeirah with its host of facilities. A centrepiece of the complex, this hotel has easy access to the maze of charming souks and caf?s, each an absolute must for your true experience of Dubai.

Premium leisure letting the side down

Sheffield, United Kingdom

We stayed at the Al Qasr for 10 days at the end of September in an Ocean Deluxe Club room this being our third visit to the hotel. This is a very nice hotel very stylish and upmarket. The staff and service is second to none, every member of staff we encountered was very professional, helpful and friendly. Our room was in pristine condition and as before did not hear a sound from adjoining rooms. The first time we stayed in 2017 there were two club lounges; the premium club for families and the executive club for adults only. The second time we stayed we were informed, on arrival, the executive club room was closed for renovation and would be reopening early 2019. The premium club is nowhere as refined and relaxing as the executive club was. On expectation of the executive club being reopened we booked again for this year, only to be told shortly before our departure that the executive club is closed permanently. For the first 5 nights of the holiday it was obvious the club facility was over subscribed we often had to wait for a seat at breakfast or afternoon tea. Evening cocktails and canapés (6pm -8pm) were also a disappointment. By 6.10pm all seats in the lounge were taken and shortly afterwards the room was very full. To compound the drop in standards each evening a group of 6 or 8 chavs would stand at the bar laughing and guffawing very loudly, spoiling everyone else's enjoyment. After the first 5 nights the lounge became less full and to everyone's relief the chavs went home. The commonness and frantic atmosphere was replaced by the calmer more refined hum of conversation and ripples of laughter. On our last day the times of the club facility changed; breakfast is now shorter by one hour and is from 7.30am to 10.30am, afternoon tea remains the same 3pm to 4.30pm but cocktails and canapés has moved an hour earlier to 5pm to 7pm. Cocktails and afternoon tea really do feel like they are competing with each other. Leaving cocktails at 7pm to go to dinner puts you right at the peak time putting strain on the restaurant(s). I can not see how these changes are intended to be for the benefit of the guests, it appears more for the benefit of the hotel. The term race to the bottom comes to mind as far as the club element is concerned and this is letting the rest of the hotel down. It is such a shame but the closing of the executive lounge, the over subscription and change in hours are making the prospect of a return visit by us less likely.

Excellent Resort Experience

Sydney, Australia

A fantastic experience with excellent facilities, service and attention to detail. The beach location suited us perfectly with a memorable sunset every evening. It is expensive but worth it if you want to truly enjoy your stay in Dubai
