The Sacred Monkey Forest Ubud Bali

The Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud is a nature reserve and temple complex that should be high on your must-see list when visiting Bali.

It's home to approximately 600 cheeky long-tailed macaque monkeys who are believed to protect the area from evil spirits, as well being home to 115 different species of tree and three stunning temples. The forest is not just a tourist attraction; it's also an important research and conservation spot where experts study the behaviours of the monkeys and preserve their natural habitats.

Unless you are happy to be jumped on by the monkeys, don't take any food or drink into the sanctuary with you. If you're feeling brave you can purchase bunches of bananas once inside to feed them.
