Overall a decent facility for a Death Valley vacation

Arvada, Colorado

The options in Death Valley are limited but this is a reasonable place to stay. The facilities are a little dated, but it is obvious that the current ownership and management is investing a lot to upgrade the current facilities as well as provide future new facilities. My room was clean and the house keeping was quite good. The prices are somewhat high, but that is to be expected given the isolated nature of this park.

Better than expected considering the reviews

San Diego, California

Considering the horrible reviews, my expectations were low. So, it was better than expected. We really just wanted a clean room, which we got. The room was clean and a nice size. It was a standard room on the second floor. It had a nice table and chairs, refrigerator and balcony. The bathroom was nice and clean as well. But it was really worn. The carpet was so worn out in spots that the pattern was gone. The balcony carpet had holes. There were marks on the walls where there had been prior fixtures removed but the paint had not been done. Just sloppy. Clearly, the rooms and building need upgrading. We were lucky that we got there right after the power outage so had no problems with that. The grounds are in bad shape as well. It appears to be really old buildings that need lots of work. The staff was very pleasant. We had dinner at the bar and the bartender, Buchanan, made it a wonderful experience. The food was fine but the menu was limited. The location is the best part and that is why we chose it.
