A Cool Desert Oasis

Formerly the Wyndham, the Renaissance Palm Springs underwent a huge renovation in 2010 and is now a cool desert oasis of contemporary design. Imagine basking in the warm sunshine beside the pool, surrounded by the spectacular San Jacinto Mountains - what better way to catch some rays! Kids will love splashing around in their own pool with fun features, while you enjoy a relaxing treatment at the Spa Del Sol. Make sure you visit Dates restaurant too for some eclectic fine dining - it's popular with locals though so plan your visit!

NOT a relaxing resort pool experience!

Newport Beach, California

After viewing the pictures of the pool area, we were so excited to get away for a couple of days and relax by a resort pool...which was very much needed! The type of people that this place attracts is undesirable. The pool and poolside was so congested, beer cans everywhere, people PACKED side by side in lounges, empty food trays everywhere, loud drunks and screaming children. We finally found a couple decent lounges away from everyone after moving 3 times to find a pair of men's underwear under one of them. The pool had so much chlorine in it our eyes were burning, there was hair floating around with God knows what else. Then there is, what could be, a nice water feature area with lounge areas, but they are filthy and there were sloppy men smoking cigarettes. We had to leave and go to another resort pool to relax. It was a VERY disappointing experience!!!!

Great quality Palm Springs hotel

Yorkshire, United Kingdom

We stayed here for three nights as part of a honeymoon trip to California. The Renaissance feels like a great quality hotel the moment you drive in and the moment you check in. The entrance, lobby and check in are first class. We reserved a good room and were assigned a corner room at the back of the hotel. It was a great sized room with a small lounge and a small balcony. The room was in great condition, clean, comfortable and modern. I suppose our only real negative was that we didn’t have a better view or anything to celebrate our honeymoon so it would have been nice for it to feel a little more special. The hotel itself is great. The gym is clean and well equipped and the pool is a lovely area. We did struggle a little to find beds with some shade or an umbrella but we’re not early risers so others just beat us to it. The only option for food and drinks was at the pool side bar or bar with was good quality and not too expensive in comparison with local places. However, downtown is just a short ride away so we headed there every night as the hotel itself was very quiet and lacking in atmosphere. We were a little disappointed that the restaurant wasn’t open during our stay and also that the fire pits were never lit. The parking is also very expensive. Overall we had a lovely stay in a great quality chain hotel. It lacked a little in atmosphere and personal customer service but it’s a big hotel so it’s hard to do this. All in all, it’s not one of my favourite ever hotel experiences but I’d recommend the hotel and I’d stay again.
