Average Is The Name Of This "Resort"

My boyfriend and I were having a weekend away to celebrate my birthday and relax on June 1st- June 2nd, 2019. We arrived early as check in time is 4pm but when we arrived at check-in the reservation was under the wrong name and it was the wrong type of room that my boyfriend did not reserve. He booked a king for 1 night and they gave us two doubles. We had a little back and forth and left thinking that things were changed such as his name on the reservation and the type of room. We ended up going to the pool while we waited for our room. Turns out, we get a call to let us know that our room is ready. We get the key and it was the room that we did not reserve, the two double beds. Then, we went back to the desk and the woman we were dealing with was no longer there so we spoke with a man named Andrew. He told us the reservation was still under the wrong name and that there was no rooms available at the location with a king and he was giving us total lip service. After some firm back and forth and then my boyfriend discussing to get a full refund, magically they found a room with a king. Andrew gave us a $40 credit for the mistake about our room, which covers the "resort" fee. This place is not a resort. It has 2 pools, a restaurant, and some cool artwork but not a resort. We got the room keys and it turned out be exactly what we had ordered. The hotel is a bit dated as well as the rooms but a decently comfortable bed. The room wasn't perfect as there was chips on the walls, stains in the carpet, drainage in my sink in the bathroom was not great and thin walls as we can hear people outside our door and sounds from the next room over. Finally, things were looking better! Then, the next day we were checking out and we go to close our tab. We check out with Andrew and magically he forgot about all that was dealt with the other day. He said, "How would you like to pay for the $40 resort fee?" and I look to my boyfriend and we were both annoyed. He claimed, he didn't recall giving us a credit but we were firm and received it. That is not good customer service and always get something written down when offered any type of credit. We ended up leaving after check out and both discussed that we will not be returning to this hotel again when we do return to Palm Springs. Palm Springs is a lot of fun but there are so many other options to stay!

Average, just average

Grass Valley, California

The hotel is entirely average; average service, average rooms and a dated facility. The web picture are lovely, but the property is just average. Rooms are dated a bit and both pool areas lack anything special. As a tribute property there is nothing special nor destination oriented for this property. Falling under the Marriott brand may help fill these average rooms. The front desk staff was lovely.
