Lake Tahoe Holidays

Glistening blue and green waters, snow-capped peaks, rugged cliffs and white sand beaches, Lake Tahoe is your ultimate year-round playground. The 72 mile lake; split by the California-Nevada border, has more than 300 days of sunshine every year and 400 inches of snow in the winter and is the largest alpine lake the US. Lake front towns dot the shoreline and you can easily drive around the lake in a few hours, but we recommend taking at least one full day to fully experience everything the lake has to offer.

Lake Tahoe lays claim to some world-class alpine resorts; Squaw Valley, Northstar, Heavenly Mountain, Diamond Peak, Homewood Mountain and Alpine Meadows, where you can ski, snowboard and dog sled in winter. Come summer, there are mountain biking and hiking trails galore as well as zip lining and high ropes courses. You can also take an aerial tram ride to High Camp where you can relax in a pool and hot tub surrounded by the beauty of the Sierra Nevada at an elevation of 8200 feet.

North Lake Tahoe

Visit Sand Harbor Beach or Kings Beach for stunning, crystal clear waters, ride horses through Tahoe National Forest or for those adrenaline junkies, chose from mountain biking, kayaking and rock climbing.

South Lake Tahoe

A little busier, South Lake Tahoe has world class casinos and a livelier nightlife. Just north of the Nevada border you will find Zephyr Cove Resort where you can journey aboard the M.S Dixie II paddle wheeler, for a stunning sightseeing cruise around the lake. Ride the scenic gondola to the top of Heavenly Mountain, try your hand at stand up paddleboarding (SUP) or visit the gorgeous overlooks above Emerald Bay State Park.

With countless outdoor activities around Lake Tahoe, feeling the crisp air on our cheeks as we ride an antique sleigh through the woods in the winter or cruising the blue waters under colourful granite cliffs in the summer; no matter what the season, you will fall in love with Lake Tahoe as we have. Make your holiday to Lake Tahoe part of a California adventure and explore Northern California to visit ancient volcanoes, redwood forests and vine filled valleys, then head south to Death Valley National Park on your way to San Diego.

"From South Lake Tahoe, take a short drive round past Zephyr Cove to Cave Rock for a spectacular sunset spot. We took a blanket and some snacks and sat to overlook the lake as the sun disappeared for the day and it was incredible."
