A mix of cozy and modern, shout out to Beau

San Francisco, California

I have stayed at the Landing in the past with some friends, but haven't been to South Lake in a while. I have been staying at the Ritz in North Lake more frequently. I get some good deals with Marriot Bonvoy and appreciate a higher-end stay. The latter reason is why I stay at the Landing when I am in South Lake. The larger hotels in South Lake are not as nice -- mostly casino-hotels that are really worn. The Timber Lodge is nice, but isn't pet-friendly. But I wouldn't really consider the Timber Lodge anyway -- the Landing is a better-appointed hotel, with better service. It is a really great boutique option if you are looking for a place that pays attention to the details and has a refined look and feel. Also, and I say this a lot, what really separates a good hotel and a great hotel is the service. You want to drop your bags and know someone else is going to put in the effort to make things easier for you. Beau does that. I had issues with my booking and had made some poor planning decisions, Beau didn't just make those problems go away, but he did it with the utmost professionalism and humor. He was really friendly and I really appreciated it. That makes the difference.

Nice rooms, noisy neighbors

Came in on Saturday afternoon and spoke with Beau. He set me up with a nice room on the ground floor with a fire pit. I had inquired about rates and he assured me that he would give me a better rate for Sunday night, which I initially had not planned on... He stated the rate for Sunday would be better than Saturday's... Just got the bill and no such savings were realized as promised. 2nd night was horrible. No sleep due to noisy neighbors partying until around 3:30AM!!! Just over $700 for 2 nights? Not worth it.
