Needs Updating

Columbia, Missouri

We are a Disney family (more than 10 trips between Florida and California) but this was our first stay at a Disneyland hotel because the price is so out of line compared to other hotels that are closer to the parks. We stay on property all the time at Disney World so it's hard not to compare this hotel to the Disney hotels in Florida. The price for this room was probably double if not triple for what is considered a value hotel at Disney World. The room was clean but definitely needs some touch ups (paint,I thought one of my kids left lotion on the door handle until I noticed all of the rooms had similar issues with the finish). I saw housekeeping setting up large fans in several rooms down the same hallway as our room and the fans ran all night so I'm not sure what the problem was with those rooms. The shower faucet worked strangely but they do provide tubes of the H2O+ products that I like. The good and bad news with our room was that it was right across from the pool slide. That meant I could watch my kids go down the slide from our window but that also meant we got all the noise coming from the pool. I am a huge Disney fan but it pains me to say this was not a very magical experience, especially considering it was more than twice as much as the other closer hotels we stayed at this trip. They knew what they were doing to make getting a reservation to Star Wars' Galaxy's Edge contingent on staying at their hotel because it's the only reason we stayed one night. I feel for housekeeping and the other staff, it really increased their work load. Disney needs to strongly consider updating the rooms and dropping the price here. The other reviewer that said "budget hotel at luxury prices" had it right.

Get ready to walk and be overcharged for it

Saint Louis, Missouri

You can see my 1-star review of Disneyland but here I sit on my last day and I'm fed up with this whole place. Our last day, the kids wanted to swim (in these supposedly "heated" pools that are FREEZING in June). So we go to get an elevator.... Elevators: Get this, you push the button where you are going on an ipad like thing outside the doors - so we hit pool and it says "go over to door D" - ok, as we walk over we see the doors aren't closed all the way and you can clearly see the elevator shaft and we watch elevator D go down right past our floor. WHAT IS THE POINT!? So we wait and wait (See other people getting on the elevator in our floor but their's isn't going to the pool floor I guess)... and here comes elevator D back up to us. We get on it and the door closes and a voice says "Your elevator is experiencing minor technical problems - press the alarm button to contact emergency services" - So I hit the button and my kids a getting scared... the guy comes on and I say the elevator is stuck he says "hello? hello?" - OMG. I hit the door open button and the doors open and we got out on the 11th floor where we started. Now my kids are scared to death to go down the elevator at all. Elevators 2: If you think they are smart, they aren't. We watched a crowd of people come back from the park and the guy up in front of me hit 11 of his keypad and it say "Elevator C"... we get up to the keypad and hit 11 and it says "B" - that's weird. Well they gave some Lurch-like guy standing there announcing the floors for the elevator and he say "C going to 11 and 13" and we start to move toward it and B opens - going to like 3 and 11 - I'm like WHY?!?! So dumb. Bedding: Usual HORRIBLE pillows - wife and I had neck pain and headaches all during our stay. The beds were comfortable enough but frankly we were so exhausted from all the walking we could have slept in the lobby on the floor. Walking: This is my biggest complaint. For the money you pay, you have to WALK FOREVER to get to the parks. It might look like a few blocks on a map but it is LONG. You have to go behind the building (where they are blasting hot humid laundry vents at you) cross a street (hoping people don't run over all the walkers) and then through security... that's one end of mile long downtown disney. Walk past all the overpriced shops to get to the parks. They have a "transportation" area down there but it beats me where any of the busses go - none to our hotel. I'll NEVER visit Disneyland again and certainly NEVER stay in this hotel. While taking the monorail over, I swear there are hotels that are MUCH closer to the entrance of Disneyland... this set up was not well thought out and I get it - they are land locked but still, provide some shuttles, provide something for us paying a premium. Parking: They are forcing us to pay $25/day. If we stayed off site we could pay $27/day and park in their garage that has a nice shuttle that goes right from the park to the garage.... So, thanks Disney for forcing us to pay and punishing our feet for staying here. So dumb. Ship to room: So we bought stuff in the parks and at Disneyworld, they ship it to your room. Here, you have to go to the bell desk to get your stuff - the first two times no one was there. We're leaving today and will try again... dumb. Galaxy's Edge: The ONLY reason we stayed on campus was for Galaxy's edge - now that was a 100% well done over-the-top experience. The ONLY thing here that we saw that I actually liked. Not worth the thousands of dollars we paid... not even close.
