Should be closed in slow season

Chicago, Illinois

The rooms very far from one another. We are here in off season celebrating a birthday, and service is VERY limited. We called for a shuttle at 9am repeatedly with no one answering. We ended up walking and about 15 minutes later flagging down a housekeeper. Only the Grill is open, was told there that the other one was closed all week. I asked for an omelette with the toppings on the side. Was charged $5 extra for this. Another $5 charge for asking for fruit instead of toast. Didn't complain, but small things like this really start to wear on your experience. My husband and I both walked into spa and he asked to use the facilities. He was turned away by the manager Emily who asked him to pay $50 to use the sauna. He said he would also have a treatment, but no masseuses were available, in fact it would take 1-2 hours to call and find one. Worst massage ever, complete waste of money. Rubbing oil, kind of how you would rub a baby's back. Felt assulted by oils, facial sprays, lip balm that were sprayed on without asking first. I am sensitive to sprays and these things happened first, explanation of what they were later. Massuese used WAY too much oil, and kept rubbing her hands on the bed by my hair to take it off. Pretty certain she wasn't trained in massage therapy, and the manager Emily didn't test her skills prior to hiring. I think this hotel would be better off to just close during off-season if they cannot properly and adequately staff the property.

Perfect Family Cottage

My family and I rented a lodge at Meadowood with four bedrooms and a living room over Thanksgiving. It was perfect for letting us spend time together on the holiday. The rooms are gorgeous and we loved the wood burning fireplaces in every room. I would highly recommend this hotel.
