Not as it should be

Santa Monica, California

Despite the resort hosting an annual meeting of several hundred attendees, resort management, specifically operation of the bar facilities (Crush Lounge and Commons), did not anticipate or provide adequate staffing to keep venues open beyond midnight, despite advertisement and verbal confirmation that facilities close "late nightly" and well behaved crowds of 20-30 people at last call at 11ish. Use of security to help close was heavy handed and uncalled for. Given that this is a resort that generally precludes attendees from outside the resort guests and that the next closest bar is miles away, management should have better anticipated the guest use of the bar venues and arranged for overtime or staggered shifts. Guest rooms were a bit uncleanly especially in locations that are difficult to clean, specifically around and under the bed base for example. Nice, but not world class or even best of region class.

Disappointing at any price

Wow- what horrible customer service: Starting right away with check in; the staff was rude and not at all helpful. Paid a little extra for a room with a balcony “overlooking” the vineyard: Well, the room was overlooking a parking lot with a vineyard in the background: There were limited coffee pods (so called 3 times before someone answered) only to be told they were out of coffee. So we had to go to the coffee shop and pay $4 for a cup of coffee: The restaurant was a joke- with so many servers walking around doing I don’t know what- as our table and others around us could not get silverware or a glass of water. This place was so disappointing and definitely not worth $600 a night!!
