A fabulous choice in a great Gas Lamp location

Benahavis, Spain

I spent around 5 nights here for a business trip during mid October. I'm a huge fan of Hyatt and It wasn't my first visit so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect but, I have to say that on this occasion, the hotel constantly overdelivered on all of my expectations throughout my stay. There was genuinely nothing that I would of wanted to change nor was there anything missing.... Everything that I either saw, experienced or tasted was fabulous. The word Andaz itself means "personal style" in Hindi and each Hyatt Andaz celebrates that with its own individual personality and local inspiration. Consequently every Andaz deliberately feels different from the last and, when its done well it should feel exactly right for the neighbourhood, its environment and the vibe. Under the direction of (relatively new) GM, Kary Takach, this was all perfectly executed and I cannot recommend the hotel and its fantastic team highly enough. The enthusiasm to constantly exceed guest expectation that Kary has managed to instill in her colleagues will be a lasting memory of this great visit. Without exception, every single team member that I met greeted me with a smile, often also by name and all went out of their way to ensure that I wanted for nothing. The location for visit to San Diego visit could hardly be better; with an STK restaurant and bar onsite, a rooftop area with pool, bar and restaurant with amazing views of the city this hotel is not to be missed. Coincidentally this stay also took me to 'Lifetime Globalist' membership status with World of Hyatt. Kary had spotted this in advance and arranged a projection on the lobby wall to celebrate it which remained throughout my stay and made me smile every time I passed through. As an especially thoughtful touch, in my room on the eve of my departure was a framed photograph of myself, Kary and her team as they welcomed me to the hotel as I arrived. A great personal touch which now takes pride of place in my office :-)

Beautiful Hotel with Flaws

Seattle, Washington

I was here for a business trip so I had a lot of time experience the hotel. The Pros: The best aspect of this hotel is the service. The staff were great especially the catering staff for our conference. He always made sure we had plenty of drinks and the setup was so beautifully put together. He would even make sure the soda cans were always organized and replenished. I gave him a big thank you! The food at the rooftop lounge was very good. Very nice high end amenities in the room. The rooms were comfortable and very well stocked with snacks and spirits. The free water and snack basket was a nice perk. Cons The hotel is located in the middle of a very busy neighborhood that is very loud in the evening. Surrounded by many bars, a lot of transients and drug addicts who are very noisy in the evening that did not end until 2:00 am. I was wondering why they had earplugs and a noise cancellation machine, which by the way did not work that is how loud it was. I had to change my room just to get a good night's rest. I did not sleep the first night because of the noise. The beautiful rooftop lounge was nice, but it was not very clean. The rooftop concrete floor was disgusting with dirt, food stains, you name it. I don't think it has ever been washed. Not very sanitary especially while you are eating or going in the pool. This is not a hotel for the older generation. The rooftop lounge fills up with pretentious, 20 year olds that are loud and rude. In my opinion they should only let people up to the rooftop who are staying at the hotel. Unfortunately, it is open to the public and the only demographics that come are millenials and Gen Z. We definitely felt like we did not belong. We are not old (late 40's) but felt out of place. The rooms - although the rooms were clean it just felt dirty. I found old earplugs under the bed as well as wrappers. Things were also dusty and could you a better cleaning. It's a busy hotel with constant turnover so that may be the issue.
