BEWARE! Rooms not as advertised!

Pasadena, California

Stayed here in the past and loved it so decided to come back with the family. Boy, am I disappointed this time! Check-in was at 4pm which is already very late. But when we arrived, the room wasn't ready. We had to wait until 4:30pm and there was no explanation for this delay. When we finally checked in, the room was NOT the one we booked. We booked a Lanai Bayside King room which was the same reservation we booked years go and what we got was a real disappointment. There was no view of the bay, no couch/sofa bed, no lawn chairs, no double doors. We called to complain but was told they had no more rooms so they decided to put us here. There was no mention of that when we checked in and now we're stuck in something we didn't book and all they did is offer to refund $100 to us with no other option! I would highly suggest anyone booking to not book directly through their website because there seems to be no recourse. There's no booking agency I an complain to and not much is being done to fix the issues we've had from the resort. We've recommended this place to our friends in the past but after this experience, we will no longer be doing that.

Excellent except resort food and room service

Phoenix, Arizona

The grounds are impeccable and the bay is literally a step outside the sliding door of your room if you get a Bayfront room. The pools are great. The pool bar is awesome. You can roast marshmallows at their pool bonfires at night and the gift shop (called Island Market) has everything you could ever need! The only negative was that ALL the food is served or delivered in to-go containers...even room service! For $300/nt, they could have normal room service. So they say they don't allow plastic bags but they bring your food using hundreds of plastic containers to put all the little sides and food you order. Even when you're seated in the indoor restaurant area, the pizza place also serves you in to-go containers. It's very bizarre. This complaint has nothing to do with me being environmentally concerned, it's just weird to not have normal tableware and cutlery when you're in a major resort in San Diego. All in all, the location and grounds and area is wonderful so if you don't mind ALWAYS eating in plastic, you'll love this place.
