Very underwhelming...

Melbourne, Australia

We were really looking forward to staying at the Marriot. And we were very disappointed. The Hotel is really quite basic, and for the price, I was expecting a lot more. There are some very good things about it...the staff were all just wonderful and friendly, the rooms are clean and nicely decorated, and the beds are fabulous, but that is where it ends. For such a large hotel, the facilities are woefully inadequate. The pools are not very big and are far too warm and not refreshing at all. There are 3 spa pools which were so hot it felt like you would burn alive. And the pools were dirty (and surrounding areas) and did not look well maintained at all. At night, kids would play in the pool screaming and yelling till at least 11pm. The amenities in the rooms are scarce, and our room wasn't serviced on 2 days. There is a small coffee shop open 7 mornings a week and 4 nights a week it becomes a bar...why not every night?? . The restaraunt downstairs was faily uninspiring and expensive, and that was your only dining option within the hotel. The hotel is qute isolated and there is no public transport nearby, so your options are to hire a car or Uber / Taxi everywhere. It all adds up. This could be a great hotel, but sadly it just didn't offer anything inspiring. By our fifth day, we just wanted to leave. Sorry Marriot Waikoloa but you've lost us.

Very disappointed

I was very disappointed in how they handled check in and my luggage. The bell hop held our luggage and wouldn’t release it because they said I couldn’t use their carts. Then I went to Carter the manager and he pretty much said tough luck. My dad had heart medication that he needed and my daughter had allergy medication. Very poorly handled, they treat some guests like royalty and some like trash
