Hands down THE best hotel on the island!!!! This is our second time staying on the resort and it was just as magical this time as was two years ago! Service is second to none and beyond exceptional! My husband and I have vowed to never stay anywhere else while visiting and we are currently planning the next visit! My only complaint was not staying longer. Keep setting the bar high Grand Hyatt! Thank you for an experience my family and I will never forget!

Superb resort, perfectly located

Phoenix, Arizona

My-11-person family took our bi-annual family vacation on Kauai this year (previously stayed on Maui and Oahu and we had carefully chosen the Grand Hyatt for location reasons (equi-distance to sights to west, and to north & east). We made the right decision - location on the island was perfect. Very expensive but worth the money. We had 6-rooms and the hotel accomodated our prior request of all on the same upper floor, all ocean view. Rooms were nice and daily room service was excellent. We booked 7 months prior to our stay, via a travel agent, who set up our rooms, luau reservations, etc. before we arrived so I'm sure that helped. Buffet breakfast (included in room rate) was superb - foods choice outstanding, and all presented very nicely. Breakfast staff were a joy, knew us all by name after just 2 days of our 9-day stay. The casual Seaview Terrace was just right for evening meals after a day out sight-seeing with casual dressing. We all preferred the menu and seating arrangements of the upscale Tidepools restaurant over the fancier Dondero's Italian Restaurant, though they both served excellent quality food. Went to the Wednesday on-site Luau (runs Sundays and Wednesdays). Very pricey (we had a Premier front table) but a nice show and souvenir photos were free. Good food choice (buffet style - which the kids prefer). The pools were voted best of any resort that we as a family have ever stayed in (and we've been fortunate to stay in quite a few nice resorts). The kids particularly liked the saltwater sand beach pool and the water slide. Lots of free seating and towels for the adults around the pools. The on-site Avis dealership made vehicle renting a breeze (they have Pacifica minivans, GMVC SUVs and Jeep 4-wheel drives) The on-site shops are pricey (as is normal) but the variety of clothing choices was good as were the snacks in the on-site food shops. The only negative was the on-site Expedia concierge. Mostly nice people but they are subcontracted to the Hyatt (not part of the Hyatt staff) so they didn't have direct access to the hotel restaurant reservation system (they had to wait until the restauarant was open). And they messed up one of my family outings - though it was fixed at no charge to me. Kids liked the 10:00 am daily parrot feeding and the Koi fish feeding in the hotel. Beach is not big but adequate as red flags were up every day that we were there. Monk Seals would laze on the beach. Spinner Dophins, Green Turtles and Humpback Whales all visible from the hotel balconies. Defintely the resort to stay in on this Garden Paradise, if you can live with the prices.

White Sand Beach

Set adjacent to the resort, guests can head to this beautiful beach for early-morning sand dune walks or just for a day of rest by the sea. Due to the strong current and short shore break it is advised that only advanced swimmers take to the water.

The Grand Hyatt Kauai Luau

Experience possibly the most captivating and involving experience found anywhere in Hawaii. This authentic Polynesian show combines high energy dance with traditional cuisine and a heavy focus upon local custom to let guests experience the true Aloha way of life.

Poipu Bay Golf Course

Just minutes from the hotel is one of the world’s most unique golf courses. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Junior, this course is sculpted directly from the rolling plateau eighty feet above the ocean and backed by the verdant mountainside. Thanks to the spectacular location, this is one challenging course! Try to ignore the ancient stone walls and heiau, the spectacular views at every hole and the wonderful wildlife including green sea turtles, humpback whales and graceful Nene Geese. Guests enjoy a discounted rate on most days.

Additional Activities

There’s plenty more to interest guests at this expansive resort including mountain biking, kayaking, volleyball, badminton and bocce.

Salt Water Lagoon

Bob along on a floating chair and take in the beautiful tropical surroundings in this saltwater lagoon. Relax in the warm waters or sit by the edge and let the water gently ripple around your feet.

Freshwater Pools

These intriguing river-style pools wind through grottos and past waterfalls with several sun decks hidden around the area. See if you can find the 150-foot long waterslide and be rewarded with a scary trip down it.

The two plexi-paved tennis courts provide the ideal venue for a family game or a tough competition. There are daily sessions and private lessons plus the Tennis Garden Pro Shop lets guests buy and rent a variety of equipment.

Anara Spa

This 45,000 square foot payable spa is heavily influenced by nature and offers a diverse range of treatments across the complex. Being the largest spa on Kauai means that guests can enjoy everything from lava rock showers to a 24/7 fitness centre facility and of course there are all of the traditional treatments with a Kauai twist including massage and beauty services.
