Comfortable stay in the North Shore, okay value

We wanted to spend some quality time in the North Shore and chose to stay two nights at Turtle Bay as it is one of the few hotel options in the North Shore. Our room was on the 2nd floor with a very partial view of the ocean (booked through Agoda). We appreciated that the front desk was able to move us to a room with a slight better view as there was a bit of an odd humming noise in our first room. Pros: - LOTS of available activities at the resort (not all activities included in resort fee) - nice beach area beside the hotel where you can snorkel (included in resort fee) - DVD rentals at the kiosk in the lobby (included in resort fee) - decent room size, including large shower area - comfortable bed and very big tv - amazing views and relaxing vibe Cons: - many additional fees: resort fee, parking fee, activity fees - no slippers or robes in the rooms - balcony doors had to be closed to keep out bugs (so no listening to waves to lull you to sleep - consider installing screen?) - no blackout blinds (windows had shutters) - lack of inexpensive dining options on site (there are food trucks ~5-10 minutes drive away) - check-out was relatively early (11am) and hotel was unable to offer late checkout Our overall impression is that this is a good choice in the North Shore, albeit a pricey choice since you have to pay a resort fee and a parking fee on top of high room rates. While we enjoyed the resort as a couple, we would recommend it for families too.

Amazing location and pricey

Rochester, New York

We recently stayed 4 nights at Turtle Bay after other accommodation plans ran amuck. The resort could not have a better location- the north most point on the island of Oahu. We had both spectacular sunrise and sunset vistas from the resort. I believe all the rooms have balconies and unobstructed ocean views! The resort his very classy, it definitely caters to an affluent clientele. Clean, attentive staff, fast and friendly interactions and accommodating. We found the salt water pool and beach areas well kept, adequately serviced and plenty of available chairs and loungers. Although it is a very large resort, no where did it feel crowded or congested. There are numerous activities available to keep you entertained- horseback riding, surfing lessons, snorkeling, stand-up paddle board. They even had Slingshots available as a car rentals. My only negative remarks are about the add-on expenses the resort imposes. Parking was $25 a night valet, $15 self-park (though non guests accessing the public beaches paid nothing...) a burger at the lobby snack bar was $20, two cocktails at the pool bar cost $43, beach chairs, loungers and water toys were not free. I have no idea what it cost to eat there, but based on the prices we encountered above- I wasn’t even going to inquire. We left the property and experienced local cuisine in the nearby small towns for our meals. All in all, I would recommend this property. I personally like to know what things cost ahead of time, but we adapted and enjoyed our stay very much. Turtle Bay’s location and proximity to the great beaches and surf breaks of the fabled North shore makes it ideal.

Serious fishermen and women may instead prepare the non-guided fishing option where the resort can drop you of at the special fishing site and pick you up at the end of the day.
