A Disappointment

Fresno, California

I had stayed at this hotel when it was a Mandarin Oriental property a few years ago. I loved it because it was quiet, understated, and non-gaming. I also had stayed at the WA Beverly Hills in December, so this visit was a let-down. I kept hearing that the hotel would be refurbished over the next few years, but what about current guests. Parts of the experience at this hotel were good, but others were just tired and not so friendly. Maybe I'lll visit in a few years.

Enjoyed my stay

Plainfield, Illinois

I used HH points to book my room, and it was a suite so pretty darn costly. They also gave me an upgrade although my level has dropped to Silver. (I'm a Marriott Bonvoy person now) The room was just lovely. I could have stayed in the bathroom suite all day! The tub was perfect and my SO loved the shower. It was very quiet which is so important to me. It's not easy to find silence in Vegas. Not sure how much the champagne was in the vending machine in the 23rd floor lobby, but I was impressed - I never saw one before. Loved the little robot too. But his shift ends at 7 PM, so we didn't see him all that much. We didn't eat at the restaurants, so can't speak to the quality of the food. I didn't get a chance to use the fitness center (I was at the Aria for a conference earlier in the week and decided to take a week off). But... I was very unhappy with the resort fee. For internet and some water? You could use the fitness center but if you don't, you're tossing out $45/day for something relatively standard at most hotels. I think fitness classes were included, but still.
