Poor Experience. Good Location.

I stayed at this hotel from September 18-22 and I was extremely disappointed in the hotel. The initial room we were assigned upon check-in smelled like cigarettes; therefore, we asked for different room. We decided we would upgrade and paid an additional $600 for our stay in order to do so. We were assigned room 812 and we had plumbing issues immediately. The toilet would not flush after urinating and only putting a small amount of paper in the toilet. We even stopped placing paper in the toilet hoping we could use it more before it would not flush. Over the course of our stay, we contacting housekeeping and or the front desk 4 times. We had to use the restroom repeatedly in the lobby. There is obviously something far more severe with the plumbing. I even asked for a manger multiple times and I was told by two different front desk clerks that they would let a manager know. I am appalled that not one person on behalf of this hotel would make a courtesy phone call. The staff, with an exception of a few, are not professional. The roof top is nice; however, that appears to be the only concern. They are operating a bar and not a hotel.

Something for almost everyone

San Francisco, California

This is my go-to hotel when visiting New York. Great location, pretty nice rooms, rooftop pool is great, and interesting scene for people watching. The staff have always been fantastic. I've been coming back to the Gansevoort more than half the time I visit the city for quite a few years and it's always a great spot whether for business or on vacation!
