Vibe is gone

Prinsenbeek, The Netherlands

What a shame, really what a shame. I booked my first stay in the Hudson a few years ago. I received an option via Secret Escapes. Brilliant! Small but clean rooms, great staff and the atmosphere! This is all gone! Restaurant closed, no more bar, no more cosy fire place (its still there but off). Last time I stayed there the restaurant was closed for renovations (blocked). They had just been acquired by Accor (i love accor and frequent their hotels often (membership). I thought; that will work out fine, French kitchen etc. Nothing of that. You can hang around there to play some games thats it. I cancelled my bookings for next week and moved to another Accor hotel. But funny to say it hurts when you see something happening to your favorite place.

Small rooms, good location, needs some TLC

Manchester, England, United Kingdom

Firstly, the location is fantastic. Over the road is the 59th Columbus Circle Subway station which takes you all over New York. 1 stop up to 50th Street on the 1 Downtown train will take you into the heart of Time Square full of shops, resturants and theatre shows. On your way back be careful not to disebark at 59th Street Station as although its the same number station, its a 10/15 min walk away, so make sure you disembark at 59th Columbus Circle. Central Park is at the end of the street (5mins) and a Starbucks and Pharmacy are on the same road as well as a few other shops and food carts. The hotel itself is great in some places and lacking in others. At the entrance there are big heavy doors that are slightly broken and a small shop to the left with all your esentials. You have to go up the escalators to the lobby which is huge and kind of a pointless use of space although beautifully decorated. We were on the 8th floor so we had to get the elivators which were a little grubby. The floors are decorated in Lime green paint which is a little garish and they have vending machines and ice machines outside the elivators but they were broken. The rooms are beautifully decorated but very, very small. There is barely any floor space in the bathroom, so you have to step out into the bedroom to dry yourself after a shower and there is a window in the shower that over looks the bed, so anyone in the bedroom can see you showering which would make for some awkward moments if you were staying there with a parent or friend! That said, the showers were decent with a hot heavy flow (i hate trickly showers) and were very clean. The rooms are cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. It did get a little cold at night as the bed was under a window and there was an icey draft coming in throughout the whole stay. We appreciated the hair dryer, ironing board and iron that were all in perfect working order. The rooms also have a mini fridge although it wasnt very cold, so kind of pointless. The room also had a TV which we never used as you had to pay. All in all, its a good hotel for couples that just need a place to stay in a good location and not looking for anything too extravagant. Or good friends that dont mind seeing each other naked!!
