The Dominick New York

Luxury hotel in Trendy location

The gleaming 46 story glass facade of the Trump SoHo adds distinction to the Manhattan skyline and despite only opening in 2010 has already made its mark on the New York hotel scene. This intimate yet dramatic hotel boasts some spectacular views over the city - all rooms have floor to ceiling windows but those in the know book the Deluxe category as they're located on the higher floors. You'll find all the usual Trump touches here though too including world class dining at Quattro Gastronomia Italiana, the state of the art Spa at Trump, and the signature Trump Attach? personal service.

The views saved it

Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

Overall I'd say my stay here was OK. The view from our bedroom saved it. The room was unclean on arrival, there are also lots of stains on the carpet. We needed use of the sofa bed during our stay and honestly every single day there was an issue with housekeeping. The first time they changed the sheets they took away the duvet for some unknown reason and just left the bed with a sheet? I called twice to have a duvet sent up as it was 11PM and I wanted to go to sleep. After waiting 30 minutes I called down to say forget it as I wasn't prepared to wait any longer. The next day the bed had been folded away so it looked like a sofa again and the sheets tucked in to the sofa? Housekeeping really expected an adult to sleep sideways on the sofa? Again i returned near midnight so was very annoyed to find this issue again. I called housekeeping and explained the situation, the man on the other end of the phone told me it wasn't a sofabed, I said your mistaken because I've slept on it the last 3 nights, he asked me if I was sure? What happened to the customer is always right? He sent someone up, she didnt even knock on the door just came straight in. She just tucked a sheet it and left all the cushions and correct bedding on the floor and left so I ended up having to make the bed properly anyway! There were other occasions when champagne glasses we used were just left dirty on the side instead of being replaced. In a 5 diamond hotel a clean room should be expected. The pool is nice although gets busy. After my experience with housekeeping I don't think I'd stay here again.

Unannounced "destination fee"

Washington DC, District of Columbia

Have stayed at Dominick many many times in the past 5 years. The last visit included $40 daily destination fees (plus NYC taxes of $6 per day), which was news to me because nobody tells you about it upon check in. Upon checkout I was told that it would have covered some amount of dry cleaning, "food" (although not minibar food and apparently only usable on the makeshift restaurant on the mezzanine level), and of course, "free" wifi. Of course, if you don't know there is a destination fee upon check in, you may never get to use all the unwanted amenities. Terrible policy. Just bump up the room fee and stop with the nonsense. NYC hotels are getting just like airlines with the nickel dime approach to alienating customers.
