Pluses and minuses for this very large hotel

San Francisco, California

To start off positively, this hotel has one of best and well run concierge lounges I have come across in my extensive travels. Not only is the quality of the food much better than most, but the service is truly outstanding. Mitzi and Beverly in the evening and Ron in the morning take excellent care of everyone and are very personable. They should run trainings for concierge staff throughout the Marriot family! The downstairs bar is quite nice and the bartender knows his tequila, which I appreciate it. The gym is large with every kind of equipment you can imagine, including rollers, Pelotons, free weights etc, and is very clean. The main item on my negative list is the care of my actual room. The tub repeatedly plugged up, my phone was non-functional, and the HVAC would turn off in the middle of the day/night for no apparent reason. I had to go down to the front desk to request these items be fixed twice as my first request was ignored (couldn’t call because the phone didn’t work!). Only the plugged tub was ever fixed during my six day stay. I had originally signed up for the “green” option to not have my room serviced, but then requested service (which never occurred) because there was popcorn on the floor from the previous occupant. The Front Desk staff was very gracious and tried to help(as well as gave me points, which I appreciate), but I would really have preferred to have a perfectly functioning room from the start. Because of the outstanding common spaces (and staff!), I will give this hotel another try and hope for a better functioning room.

Massive, but very nice property.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Considering the size of this hotel, they do an excellent job! The rooms are very nice with very new furnishings. They were hosting our large convention and also some sort of Texas State Fair convention...that's a lot of people! The rooftop pool looked very inviting and the gym is massive. The service was always excellent. They have a nice coffee bar in the lobby and also a cool little side bar if you don't want to deal with the main sports bar. My one complaint would be that the gift shop, although large, doesn't carry many nicer items. (Minor complaint!) The hotel is centrally located and very easy to find.
