A Hotel Snob's Disappointing Experience: Not up to Aman standards

San Antonio, Texas

I love Aman resorts! In fact, staying at Aman resorts ruined my hotel experiences all over the world. Nothing can stand up to them. Sadly, this view does not apply to Amangani. I met two other people here for a business trip. I set it up and bragged about how amazing Aman Resorts are. This was their first experience at an Aman property. They were not impressed. First, the views from the property are amazing! I loved the views. However, the property itself is worn down and tired. You do not feel like you are staying in a resort that matches the prices you are paying. Second, the service was lacking, in a major way. A huge part of what you pay for at Aman properties is the amazing service experience. We asked for an extra pillow at the front desk only to have it never arrive. Another time we ordered a bottle of wine and it never came. We arranged for a Amangani car transfer to the airport, only to be told a few minutes before leaving that they took someone else so a cab would be picking us up, this after I confirmed the car service earlier in the day. To be fair, once I complained they arranged for an employee to drive us. I would recommend staying somewhere else in JH until the property gets a good remodel and the staff is properly trained. There simply is no special feel that sets this resort apart from others.

7-star price, 2-star service and quality

Boston, Massachusetts

I think my subject line says it all. The only thing we are satisfied is the guide we had from the hotel— Drew, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The rest of the experience is a huge disgrace, comparing to any Aman we have stayed, or any other hotels at the same league. Now we know Aman is not consistent and will pay more attention if we consider to stay at any of them again.
