Awesome Place

Lafayette, Louisiana

We usually do not stay in the Quarter but this property kept popping up. We had a great over night trip. Very professional staff. Our room was very clean. Bathroom was a little small but everything about the room was great. We have visited the Restaurant on sight, Sobu before and yes it is a great place to dine. Location is the best, very easy to get around. We will return.

Great location. Awful room

Oakland, California

This hotel is in a great part of town. You are in walking distance from everything you could want to visit. Staff was friendly. I had a standard 2 bed room. I am not going to complain about the size of the room because this is an old building but what I am going to complain about is the way they designed the room. It was as if when they were designing the room they put all their time into style and how it looks with hardly anything given to practicality. For example, the entire room is lit by daylight florescent lightbulbs. These are fine for lighting stuff up but they are awful when placed in a hotel room as they are not fine when you are getting ready for bed as they can interfere with you sleep cycle. Along with that, there is no dim lights for when reading or when in bed. Next, mini bar takes up the ENTIRE room. What I mean by that is that there is food for sale in every part of the room. There is a bottle of water for sale in the bathroom, on the nightstand, EVERYWHERE. Then there is this tray of snacks that is conveniently located in front of the few easy to reach outlets. Finally, there is the actual mini bar which is its own dedicated chest with stuff on top and inside it. This stuff takes up valuable storage space where you could have put a suitcase. Finally, the wall separating the room from the bathroom was frosted glass. This is not great when someone has to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and they turn on the bathroom lights which are also bright florescent lights which illuminates the room waking everyone up. So while everything in the room was poorly designed, the beds were comfortable which was the only thing I liked about the room
