Itinerary Breakdown

Arrive in to Buenos Aires, settle in to your hotel and explore this famous city visiting such sights as the Plaza de Mayo, the Casa Rosada, the Cabildo and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Be sure to dine in a restaurant sampling the amazing local steak and locally produced red wine.

Fly to Ushuaia the southern most town in the world and home to the 'End of the World Museum' an old prison and many restaurant. Wandering around the harbour is also interesting and the port from where your expedition will begin.

Today you will embark on the Silver Cloud in the afternoon. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the restaurant, settle in and during the afternoon you will be introduced to some of the important crew members and your Expedition Team before bidding farewell to Tierra del Fuego as you sail away.

Keep your eye's pealed for Peale's and Commerson's dolphins on your approch to West Point Island. This far of island is home to an ubudent amount of bird colonies and just one family, who you will have the chance to meet when you stop by their cosy home for some tea and homebaked cak

Saunders Island is the forth-largest of the Falkland Islands. Today the island is run as a sheep farm, but has historical importance as the location of the first British settlement in the Falklands. Saunders’ wildlife is also impressively varied.

Today you will visit the first British settlement in the Falklands and the Capital of the Falkland Islands – Stanley. This tiny town is rich in natural beauty and cultural history, you will have the opportunity here to visit the Falkland Islands Museum, see the whalebone arch placed in front of the town cathedral and stop for a drink at one of the charming local pubs.

The next day will be at Sea.

Today will be your first insight into the stunning wilderness of the Antarctic – depended on weather conditions, you will board the Zodiac and explore Elephant Island, where Sir Ernest Shackleton’s men were stranded for more than four months. Now this arctic wonder holds a bust to remember the Chilean captain man who helped Shackleton rescue his men.

Days at sea are perfect times to relax, weather that is whale watching from the Observatory Lounge or simply relaxing round the pool area.

As you pass through the turquoise waters you will witness the spectacular icebergs standing tall in the Antarctic Sound – This stunning sight is truly some of Mother Nature’s finest work. Depending on ice conditions a landing may be possible.

While sailing in Antarctica’s vast white wilderness, a flexible itinerary will allow you to take advantage of favourable sea and weather conditions. In the true spirit of expedition cruising, each day the Expedition Leader and Captain will determine the best course depending on weather, ice conditions and wildlife you may encounter. Here are some of the places you may visit: Aitcho Islands, Brown Bluff, Tabarin Peninsula - Adelie and Gentoo Penguins, Kelp Gulls, and Cape Petrels use the base of the ice-capped Brown Bluff Mountain as a breeding area. Cuverville Island, Errera Channel - Large, bare rock areas provide nesting sites for Gentoo Penguins. During Zodiac tours, hauled-out Weddell and Antarctic fur seals are quite often encountered. Paradise Bay - The bay is well named for its spectacular scenery of mountains, glaciers and icebergs. The Silver Cloud will reach Argentina’s “Base Almirante Brown”, one of many Antarctic research stations. Here, you will actually set foot on the mainland of Antarctica. You can also view the wildlife from sea level while cruising in our Zodiacs. Apart from observing nesting cormorants in the cliffs there is a good chance to see Crabeater seals relaxing on ice floes, and you might even locate Minke whales.

Today is spent discovering the Antarctic South Shetland Islands - After you step off the Zodiac to explore the island, you will be guided to see the Gentoo and Chinstrap Penguin colonies. The South Shetland Islands is also home to the remains of old whaling stations, as well as a number of research stations each run by many different countries. Which site you will visit will depend of weather and ice conditions

Navigating your return through the Drake Passage, watch for seabirds and wildlife. Take this opportunity to attend additional presentations offered by the Expedition Team lecturers and to edit the many photos taken as you travel towards Ushuaia.

Arrive into Ushuaia 8:00 am. Here you can either decide to continue your stay in Ushuaia or Buenos Aries for a further 3 Nights.
